Thin-Privilege vs. Skinny-Shaming

Here's my story...

One time on my Facebook I was playing SocialLife but I couldn't continue playing without friends.  So I looked down and saw a chat.  In the chat I made at least 3 friends.  One of which I got along with especially well.  She was nice but we barely knew each other.  Today I checked my news feed and saw loads of posts by her.  I agreed with most of them except one... it was http://everydayfeminism.com/2015/04/thin-privilege-fight-fatphobia/?utm_source=SocialWarfare&utm_medium=facebook&utm_campaign=SocialWarfare.

Before I move on, let me tell you about me.  It is not in my nature to be thick.  I have nothing against being thick.  In fact, sometimes I envy thicker women.  I work to get bigger around my butt, legs, hips, and maybe even my boobs.  But in reality, I am short with a small frame and I am underweight.  I can't really help that much.

So, I tried to reason with her because I knew from a post like this, she wouldn't be happy with my response.  All I said was that I was a little offended by some of the things they said there.  Some of those things were not true.  We are equal no matter what size.  But she got real upset in under a minute.  She asked me why I think fat people are not oppressed and skinny people are.  I told her I didn't say that and I didn't have anything against fat people.  Then for no reason at all she mentioned she was pregnant, called me sad, then blocked me.  It's been all day since that happened so I don't think I remember anything else happening.  I got busy shopping with my new friend.  I would love to have shorten this post by linking you a screenshot of our argument but I was blocked...

That's the end of my story.  I understand there is fat-shaming out there too but neither of them are good.  We are all beautiful and wanted by someone.  Changing the way you look is an option.  I chose to exercise to gain some weight.  You might go on a diet to lose weight.  You might also like the way you are.  But quite honestly after that argument I felt bad about myself.  It's not the first time someone made me feel this way so I'm here to bring awareness to body-shaming in general.  And this isn't just for women either...  I'd love to hear your stories, arguments, and other forms of feedback.  Thanks!

Aw, still no arguments? I guess we all agree fat people and skinny people get along just fine.

Sounds like you found Dana on Facebook. Lucky you.

Actually I've never met a Dana. I think she was Shannon...

if you're too skinny your penis will also be pretty small as your body doesn't have big blood vessels to pump it round, same goes for breasts.

That is a majority I guess. I guess the only way to have a small waist and bug boobs or penis is to exercise a lot. That's what I'm trying to do because my stomach is bigger than my breasts and I wear a size B to C...

Even if you somehow defined biological trends and had a plump ass, breasts but I could count your rips and see your hip bones jut out so you looked like a skeleton with female body parts plastered on, I'd never find you hot. That's the brutal truth that you're going to have to accept one day.

Anorexia is just as damaging as obesity, both are disgusting and should be avoided for any human being. Sex is instinctively about producing healthy offspring, after all, so the way we judge who is hot or not is linked closely to this.
