This line about god cracked me up!!

So I wanted to share it. I was watching an old rerun of one of my favorite all-time series, "Arrested Development." In this particular scene an atheist woman was being asked questions by a judge at a beauty pageant. She was a contestant.

I think it was some sort of Christian-sponsored pageant. So the judge asks her, "Can you tell us how much of an impact god has played in your life?"

And she replies......"Oh, I'd say about as much as Big Bird or the Keebler elves."

LOL.

I agree 100%. It is the same for me, and for everybody really, if they truly had to admit it, that god does not do a tangible thing, except act as a placebo adult version of a childhood imaginary friend. Again, like a Big Bird or an elf.

What say you, fellow agnostics and atheists?

What say you, Christians and bible thumpers?

Probably the same thing we thought the first time you posted this debate.

How well would the above statement work for you let's say in a Muslim community ?

You have the nut sack to try it ?

Muslims actually have a far more humble and less arrogant version of Theodicy than do Christians.

In case you don't know: Theodicy is one's opinion on "the Nature of God."

So...yeah, unlike Christians, who think they can petition their god to do favors for them, or think that their god is all-knowing and all-powerful, and worse, that they can learn to actually know god's will. Muslims admit they don't know how Allah works. They admit they don't have a clue. They admit that Allah very well may not work in their favor.

"Nobody knows Allah's will except for Allah." They say.

In this regard I find Islam more palatable in its Theodicy than Christianity. I also like the way the Muslims don't muddy the waters with all that "three gods in one" nonsense. Muslims also don't believe their main prophet was god, as do the Christians.

If I HAD to become either a Christian or a Muslim I would choose the latter.

How do ya like my nut sack now?

LOL

Re:"Muslims also don't believe their main prophet was god, as do the Christians."

They consider Mohammad the "perfect man", a man who was a pedophile and who pioneered the concept of "thighing"

To be fair, Big Bird has a large impact on a lot of kids....and the Kibbler Elves impact my waist size daily so....yeah.

This is dumb, distorted, and dishonest. The questioner did not ask about the role of god in the life of the contestant. That would be asking about the role of a thing which is not God. By changing the definition of God to a thing which can be imagined rather than the creator of all things and the giver of the ability to imagine, you are creating a straw man.

By changing God to god, you also are recognizing that the contestant is using a straw man argument against God by changing God to a created thing comparable to Keebler Elves. By definition, you are arguing a thing which is not God cannot be God.

Of course your straw man is not God. Duh. How long did it take you to figure that out?

The point the girl was making was that she knows god is only a superstition and not real. That is, a fictional character, just like Big Bird and the Elves are. Ergo....he has not impacted her life except maybe for entertainment value, like when we watch you guys pray to something that is not there and never was.

good for a chuckle every fucking time, amigo.

This just makes you look stupid, really. Of course god is not God. Changing God to god does not make God go away. Your only making yourself go away from God and you do know where you are going, right, smarty pants punk?

does it make me look as stupid or deluded as somebody who believes is Hebrew sky gods and worships a god that has killed millions, according to the very holy book he was supposed to have written.

does it make me look more stupid than somebody who believes a jewish carpenter/rabble rouser/philsopher (who, btw, brought nothing new to the table, philsophically speaking) can rise from the dead after 3 days and ascend to his sky god. who is the same person as he is? wtf?

Sorry friend, I don't need to read your stuff to see your attitude. In reality you are only abusing yourself.

God loves you and I really hold nothing against you, just don't need your dirt in my face. Don't forget to go curse at the sun and tell it that it's not God, and dare it to hit you with a solar flare and don't be afraid of the fire...be brave, be proud, be a fool....oh, I don't have to tell you to do that, you and your stupid straw men. Why in the world should I even care this much to rebuke you? Why not just leave your wet pile of mud in the dust? You're too dirty for me. Why does God mock atheists? For the answer, watch how they throw childish hissy fits trying to make Him go away. Then you will see why God is angry at them and He finds them to be material for mockery when their world falls apart and they cry "Oh my God!!!!" Then God says "hahaha, now they call out to me? I'm not listening". A tragic comedy and why in the world anybody is proud of being a star in that show........well you can fill in the rest but I won't be reading it. Heard it enough.

Let's clear a few things up. God IS NOT a man in the sky. Rather he is a GOD in HEAVEN. Also, of course God won't have much impact on you if you don't let him. God does actually have some impact on your life even if you don't notice it. Also, God did not kill millions and he only kills for a reason. Mostly because he is saving us from sin.
