I think the site is going downhill because it's making people believe that they are debating, when in actual fact they are simply using the site to express their bigotry.

On top of that, you have certain users whose sole purpose of being in this site is to "stir people up", either because it makes them feel empowered or simply because they have become point-whores.

Add to that the fact that most users have already "debated" the "core" subjects, and you are left with a community of users who are waiting for the next big controversial debate, while in the meantime ignoring any debate that actually requires them to do some research or logical thinking for that matter.

You are not the only one that feels this way, if it wasn't for a handful of people on this site I would have left a long time ago. But that small minority is worth staying, even if it is to log on periodically to check what they have said (and how they have said it).

I certainly hate the recent changes to the site itself. But I think like with everything, CD is just going through a slow phase.

We just went through the Holidays during a non election year. What is there left to debate?

Also! I think we're not creating enough. For instance: Where the frick is the "Jay vs. Conan" debate?

From a technical aspect, I positively despise the pull down menus because they stay pulled down on my browser for minutes every time my mouse accidently touches one, very annoying.

And besides that, yeah, a lot of trolls have found their way here. I don't have the energy or time to debate trolls so I haven't come here much over the last couple of months, maybe CD should start booting trolls.

I think I came in here around the end of the Bush administration, so I think I know what you're talking about. I was thrilled with this site when I first joined; I remember great, intelligent debates. I remember finally understanding the other side of at least one issue(abortion, in my case). I remember when people spelled things properly, when they did not scream cuss words at each other, and when every other post wasn't sexist. Nowadays, this site does not require me to think very hard. I'm not saying it never does...but the quality of the debates has gone down a lot.

Hello, I have been here for only two days. I love the sport (yes sport) of debate. I hear your concern but I need to ask, how sure are you that this site wasn't created the same way? Isn't it possible that trolls infect every public medium? I propose that "up and moving" does nothing more than force a nomadic lifestyle to those that create the backbone of a site's integrity. You have here (I'm speaking as an outsider) a wonderful website with a intelligent people and they seem to be the majority. It was last night, browsing through posts, that I witnessed pure poetry in debate. The opposing sides were courteous, copy and pasting relevant phrases using bold to distinguish between argument and retort. That is debate, and you have it here. Don't abandon it. Take control back. Just off the top of my head, moderators searching for obscenities would greatly reduce the amount of filth brought to this site's debates. There is a better solution, trolls exist and leaving won't solve the problem you've outlined.

Although ive been told many times that i am a troll , i have heard so many different definitions and also have been told im not a troll.

I have researched and I have back-read similar remarks to these , posted over 500 days ago either in messages to and from people or in other debates.

Yes, this website seems that way. The interface is horrid and it's tolerance to immaturity has seemed to make this place a bad environment for serious debate.

no it ain't not any awful. it's perfectly fine and doing well. I don't see whats wrong with it. if by This website is really, really awful now you mean that people are not really coming online more often then all I can say is that they have a life of their own and need to work as well not only debate on CD.

A short while ago , in the heat of a long moment with a fellow "debator" , i felt an absolute wave of detest and repulse for CD.

I not only openly expressed how i felt but i also sought closure of my account because i didnt want to , i believe my words were "I dont want to play in this defiled playground any longer"

I became quite angry when the admin ignored my requests.

Also got fed up with being told , "just dont come back if you dont want to come here."

Easier said than done obviously as months later i have not left.

Months have passed.

I have reached a different level of feelings here on cd .

Last night , before i signed off, i wrote another request to admin for closure of my account.

However it was worded very differently to my earlier requests.

Instead of anger and resentment ,this time , i expressed my gratitude for allowing me to be here and that it has been a great learning experience. However i feel it has come to the end here for me and i would like to close my account.

but still , i am here to write another post.

If people dont like it they can thank the cd admin.

When i p-eyed or "trolled" thru some of the debators profiles and messages , i also found some debators that are also admin and there were convos about how they had to delete someones account and deactivate anothers .

Although i want to stay , I try to leave.

I really truly do

Because I fear that my heart ,mind and soul will become ill , seriously.

But until CD take control of their reigns and ride this horsey,

i will not be going anywhere.
