The greatest enemy of the liberal is the fact. In a classic debate, the liberal will say something like "white privilege" or "institutional racism" and expect the conservative to dig him/herself into an inescapable hole. But, instead, the conservative will bring out a fact like "minorities have more privileges than whites do" or "shouting institutional racism doesn't combat racism". The liberal then attacks/slanders the conservative by calling them a racist, homophobe, or neo-Nazi, thus losing the debate by not having an actual argument. Side: Isn't
