There have been and will be many quotes about what love is, however, for me after 38 years of marriage I can truly say that this one by Ann Landers (Brainyquote) is really close. Love is friendship that has caught fire. It is quiet understanding, mutual confidence, sharing and forgiving. It is loyalty through good and bad times. It settles for less than perfection and makes allowances for human weaknesses. Side: Yes it can be

There are three components to a relationship that lasts long and is healthy for both parties: 1. genuine codependency (ones weaknesses are 9 times out of 10 the other's strengths) 2. strong lust for one another (exceptions occur for open or swinging couples). 3. Love or deep emotional connection on some subconscious level, usually as a result of the first two. Side: No it's not real

Well said, I think that pretty well explains it all in a nutshell. The odds must be against two people finding the 'three elements' to which you refer, but when they do the relationship should be cherished. I feel that as the relationship matures a forth component is also important, respect for one another. Side: No it's not real
