True or False?

Success breeds contempt in those who lack it.

Absolutely true. Just look to the left and see how they demonize successful people. Bernie Sanders keeps demonizing the billionaire class and how they are holding everyone back. His minions eat it up.

But it is the left that demonizes successful people.

Why does the right demonize the poor? If it is only seeing success in others, why does the right hate the people who aren't successful?

Side: False

They don't; it is a contrivance of the left.

He hasn't demonized anyone outside of the financial sector, and I think even you can admit they need some demonizing.

Don't forget, if you ask the rich to pay their fair share, you are demonizing them, and if you tell poor people to get off their lazy asses so they can pay their fair share it isn't demonizing them.

Side: False

Very true, and for many people, including me, it does not suffice just to succeed, everyone else must fail.

Side: True

It is true with some people...but not all.

This dynamic is often seen in politics...when the lazy and stupid with the entitlement menality----like those who elected Obama and now like Sanders--vote for socialists.

Ever notice how rich and successful guys never vote for socialists?

Ayn Rand had it right.

All it is is a political game to get stupid voters to vote for them. Democrat politicians are the richist of people and have been shown to take every tax loophole they have created to stay rich.

The hypocritical fools on the Left keep bringing up the Koch brother's wealth and influence while ignoring George Soros billions to help Liberal democrats and their agendas.

If the Left and Democrats truly wanted to tax the Rich even more to supposedly shrink income disparity, they woild have done so in the first two years of Obama's term when they had control of Congress and the Presidency. WHAT DID THEY DO?

They pushed Obamacare which the vast majority of Americans and all of the GOP DID NOT WANT!

They are phonies who only use the income disparity to get votes each election. They are truly corrupt.

By the way, taxing rich people more does not increase other's income. It puts more money in the hands of these corrupt politicians who use it to buy votes. It would not change your wages one bit.

If that is true, why did the rich people decide to pay people more money decades ago instead of taking a bigger salary and paying taxes?

Why do I waste my time? Always pure deception or just plain ignorance of the topic.

Rich people can decide to pay people more if they want to. It's their business.

I said that Democrat POLITICIANS who want to take more of the business man's money, do not increase the worker's wages. They keep it to grow Government even more and to buy votes.

I know it's hard for you, but there are people who actually, legitimately believe things that you don't believe in.

That does not make them evil. That does not mean that their attempts to enact policies you disagree with are evil or cynical.

One of these days, you are going to need to accept that.

I know, it's wonderful that my posts have such a following from people such as yourself. Can you imagine people so fixated on my every word that they search out my posts so they can insult it and down vote it.

Liberals truly hate any diverse(conservative) thought reaching the masses without first attacking and insulting those thoughts. They truly fear conservative opinions and are very intolerant.

Do you spend your time chasing the many childish trols on this site so you can down vote every post they write? Why not?

Can you even grasp why I get down voted when these same people who down vote me refuse to chase the childish trols around to down vote them?

You are getting a first hand lesson on Liberals and what they do to Conservatives.

Do you possess the intellect to admit it?

The most popular fictional character in this country is Batman, who is the epitome of exorbitant wealth. Our TV shows idolize the rich, our famous athletic figures are rich, etc.

No, success does not breed contempt for those who succeeded. Imbalanced success and a lack of social mobility will lead to contempt for the system that those people succeeded in, however.

But silly me for trying to point out nuance to you :P

Inb4 insults.

People climb up and down the wealth ladder all the time. Approximately 80% of all billionaires are self-made. They worked hard, stopped acting like an idiot, learned how to use their money, stopped complaining, picked up their nuts, and now their successful. Excuses are worst deterrent of success. Anybody that make one tiny bit of an excuse about something will never achieve success. You'll be in the same place you are ten years from now...alone, self-righteous, and still searching for the white privilege, misogynistic, sexist, racist, homophobic bigfoot. NEWS FLASH: The world owes you ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! It's actually quite the opposite. We got scientists the are curing diseases, a go-kart on Mars, and average everyday people are doing their part by attending military and police events, giving their own blood, and even picking up litter. And then you have those idiots that cry and complain about not being successful. Success is mostly self-made. People have to pick themselves up, and go out and be somebody.

Do you believe that the United State's incredibly low social mobility rating has any relevance, or no?

They worked hard, stopped acting like an idiot, learned how to use their money, stopped complaining, picked up their nuts, and now their successful.

I've never claimed otherwise. However, countless more people did exactly that, but didn't have the same results. That does not mean those folks didn't try hard enough, were still idiots, or complained too much.

Anybody that make one tiny bit of an excuse about something will never achieve success.

You and I both know that remark is factually ridiculous. I could point to any billionaire on the planet and they would have come up with some excuse for something at some point.

You'll be in the same place you are ten years from now...alone, self-righteous, and still searching for the white privilege, misogynistic, sexist, racist, homophobic bigfoot.

Strange, I thought you said it was the Left that tries to push emotion? Yet here you are, claiming that I am "self-righteous", "searching for the white privilege" (no need to search for it, I have already found it), "misogynistic, sexist, racist, homophobic bigfoot". You'll note that I almost never use any of those terms, with the exception of folks like Winklepecker who are explicitly racist (seriously, he says that blacks are inherently inferior).

If you are going to claim the logical high ground, please refrain from such emotion straw men.

NEWS FLASH: The world owes you ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

I never claimed otherwise. Certain aspects of the world do owe me things, however. The government owes me returns on my Social Security investment, my friend down the street owes me 5 bucks, etc.

It's actually quite the opposite. We got scientists the are curing diseases, a go-kart on Mars, and average everyday people are doing their part by attending military and police events, giving their own blood, and even picking up litter. And then you have those idiots that cry and complain about not being successful.

There is no logical connection between those two, and demonizing the poor doesn't solve anything.

Success is mostly self-made. People have to pick themselves up, and go out and be somebody.

And ideally it would actually work that way. But in a society with horrible social mobility, terrible distribution of wealth, wages that aren't rising to meet cost of living and inflation and a society that generally treats labor like crap, that sort of ideal simply doesn't exist.

I'm all for living in a society that does work that way. I'm just not going to pretend that it is already that way.

It is lack of success despite serious effort which breeds contempt. It is not simply that guy over there is successful so now I'm going to hate him for it.

When people are truly trying their best, whether it's working two full time jobs or fielding a sports team which gave its all or bidding competitively for a contract, yet they lose while watching the same winner get it again, then that's when the contempt comes out.

The average poor person actually does not want to rob or stone the average rich person. Typically all they really want is enough reward for hard work that they're not so poor any more.

Side: False
1 point

There are more who don't try at all and hate you for what you worked for and got. Even if after serious effort and falling short is no justification for hating those who did well.
