Trump as an Independent

If Donald Trump refuses to endorse the GOP Presidential Nominee in 2016 and decides to run as an Independent, would this move be welcomed by the Democrats knowing that a considerable amount of Conservative voters would cast their vote for Donald Trump, thus, ensuring a Democrat gets to the White House again in 2016?
