Unions are a Hindrance to Economic Growth and Living Standards

Union Membership was around 30% in 1955, it's now 8%. Does this demonstrate that unions are outdated? Are unions good for the economy? Do unions raise or lower the standard of living? Do you belong to a union and which? What are your thoughts on unions?

Unions have been a blessing for the working man. Without unions, what would be there to protect the average working man besides the goodness of the bosses heart? Yes, I am not claiming that unions are perfect, they have their flaws. However, think of the alternative!

As for economic growth, when workers are treated better, they tend to produce more. And honestly, what good is economic growth if not everyone can prosper from it.
