I believe, that nowadays it is more comfortable and beneficial to use bikes than cars for transportation in the city. First and foremost, using a bicycle is quite safe, because a person cannot develop a great speed, moreover, bike cannot greatly harm a person, even in an emergency. Furthermore, today, people are building more and more roads, destroying the natural landscape and disturbing wildlife habitats. On the other hand, it may be argued that it is physically difficult to move around the city by bike and there are also too many disable people, which just cannot use bicycle at all, but as I see it is better to travel by bike as much as your physical condition allows. I guess, if most of people used bicycles instead of cars, traffic jams and crashes would be less than nowadays. Also, as we know in many countries air polution is staying in hight level because of quantity of cars. Besides, buying and riding bicycle is much cheaper, than driving car. Side: ride a bicycle
I definitely agree that using bicycles in cities is more comfortable and safely than driving a car. Because there are less risks to have a serious accident. Today a lot of people die from car accidents, and it can be really good solution of this problem. Also, riding a bicycle is much cheaper than driving a car. Using bicycles instead of cars for transportation in the city is not an easy job but it helps to prevent accidents . it helps in keeping a person fit,to stay in control of diet.and as bicycles are not costly so many people can afford it.as it does not make a big bills of petrol and high maintain ens . I don't know why people are using cars into the cities while riding only home to work and back. Bikes are definitely better, coz you don't stay in a traffic jams, saving a lot of money on a gas, plus saving the ecology. I know that it might be a bit difficult for someone to cycle, but there are electric bikes and those are definitely better then cars. Your very expensive smart suit which is uniform of your trade would be knackered on a wet day, and your hair would look a mess. You would not be able to meet top executives looking a mess and make your living, because you get paid on what you sell. Now try to take your bike and go to work in the middle of february. Furthermore, imagine going grocery shopping for a family or New-Year shopping. If you're a musician imagine buying even a half stack or a drumset. If you're a camper, imaginge lugging all your camp gear, imagine bringing a kayak! It is unreal. If you like a comfort you will never chose a bike, if your trip from home to work takes 2-3 hour by car imagine how many hours it will take on bike and in what condition you would get on job, i gues you would not want to work after even 2 hours on bike. I think it really all depends on your situation and where you live, a lot of careers might make the use of a bike, difficult, as the person above me is saying, looking professional and clean. Here in Utah, I ride around for a few hours, and because of all the pollution in the air, (which is probably caused from automobile exhaust as well as anything else if not more, but I can't control that on my own) you will wind up with a bunch of grime and dirt all over by the end, and can cause you to sweat and worsen your body odor a bit. Plus what if you have to carry something, the person above me mentioned this as well, and I don't mean something that you can put in a basket, there are lots of situations to where you will need to carry stuff that you can't on a bike. Also you may have physical disabilities, someone else here has mentioned, that a lot of people can't ride a bike because of such. Plus, what if your destination is hours away on a bike? something that you can't really be spending all day going to, you just don't have the time to ride your bike everywhere. Don't forget about weather and what not, it may be difficult in snow, or in a storm, or other natural activity may make it difficult as well. I think it would be a good idea to use our bikes as much as we can, but there are times when it's just not appropriate, times that are appropriate I would say would be going down to a nearby gas station, store, game-store, or town in general. Maybe not for hanging out with friends, (depending on what town, how far away, the friends, etc.), going to work at a lot of jobs, and most careers. When it comes down to it, we will always need to use cars for a lot of big things in life, careers, moving, (you try moving to another state with ALL your stuff on a bike, it's impossible) weather, disabilities, lack of time, etc. I think it's a good idea to keep in mind you have a bike, and can ride it instead of using a car all the time, but most people can't afford to ride a bike most of the time, they just can't.
