Outline: I. Intro II. Animals are sentient III. Establishing suffering. IV. Summary V. Links First post here. I. Intro Non-vegans are animal abusers. There are plenty of healthy vegans. Including celebrities [1] and everyday people. [2]. Proving that a person can be a healthy vegan. II. Animals are sentient Animals are sentient beings. Chickens show empathy. " Consequently, the weight of evidence indicates that humans are not unique in possessing the neurological substrates that generate consciousness. Non-human animals, including all mammals and birds, and many other creatures, including octopuses, also possess these neurological substrates."" [3]. III. Establishing suffering. Suppliers of non-vegan foods torture animals. Some vegetarians think no cows have to die if they drink milk, this is a falsehood. Purchasing milk leads to cow deaths too. Same with chicken eggs. Big farm organic is a lie. Those animals suffer just about as much as battery cage animals. ""Free-Range" Hen • Debeaked with a hot bloody blade at one day old with no anesthetic. • Force molted (intentionally starved to shock the body into another laying cycle). • Violently packed into a semi and trucked hundreds of miles to an agonizing slaughter when considered “spent” (unable to keep laying eggs at a fast enough pace). • Denied the opportunity to live a natural life in truly humane care. • All of her brothers (roosters) are brutally killed as baby chicks simply because they can’t lay eggs." [4]. "After just 4 to 6 years, dairy cows are “spent” from being forced to continuously produce milk. Often weak and ill, they endure transport to auction and slaughter, both of which are traumatic for these gentle animals." [5]. IV. Summary Vegetarians cause the suffering and deaths of many animals by continuing to purchase animal products. Save yourself the guilt and go vegan today. Thank you for reading. Good luck refuting my claims. V. Links 1. http://www.huffingtonpost. 2. http://www.30bananasaday.com/page/ 3. http://www.livescience.com/ Side: Vegan

Veganism cuts out a whole lot more and there is little moral reasoning to be Vegan instead of just a regular vegetarian. If you are worried about the fat in dairy products then just drink skimmed or semi-skimmed which is low in fat and eat low fat yogurts. Also being a Vegan would mean not eating eggs which are good for you as they are high in protein and low in calories. Side: Vegetarian

I am vegetarian, so I can vouch for it. It's not as hard as it seems like it would be, and I've really broadened my tastes since I converted. Pretty much any meat recipe can be made vegetarian if you're willing to experiment with substitutions. From an animal ethics point, veganism is preferred, but I'm not sure how much more difficult it would be, and it's always a step you can take later if you so choose. However, being vegetarian doesn't mean you won't eat junk. You still have to pay attention - a lot of people eat more junk when they go veggie because they don't know what else to do. Dairy contains animal protein. Animal protein increases liver production of IGF-1. IGF-1 increases risk for cancer. [1].As for moral aspect, your deceiving yourself HaleyT. See the humanemyth [2] and peaceful prairie [3] links. Link 1. http://nutritionfacts.org/video/ Side: Vegan
