But it DID save you from getting killed, so even if it doesn't bring you to having zero problems, your self-defense violence solved the problem of the potential stabbing. So it did solve something, just not everything.

Not in all cases. That is a risk in the world of self defense. However, there are fights caught on video camera, fights that go on in crowds (at least at schools), and even bar fights where there are plenty of witnesses and not enough evidence to convict you.

No, you can't arrest someone without a warrant. It has to actually LOOK reasonable enough to arrest someone. It's called the fourth amendment right?

Plus, even if you go to court. You can't convict someone who claims self defense unless you have proof beyond a "reasonable doubt"(that's the word they use in the law books and I think the Constitution too) that they DID NOT kill in self defense. You've heard of that rule right?

Also, I'd like to clarify this:

"Me defeating them solves nothing."

Is it that it solves nothing, or that it doesn't FULLY solve anything. If you die because you didn't put up a fight, then there's a ZERO percent chance of life. If you are the one KILLING THEM, in self defense, then even in court there is a chance that you won't get the death penalty or jail. That's how the law is set up. It's happened before.

That's not to say you don't have a chance of going to court, but what I'm saying is MAYBE getting a death penalty (an unsure death) is WAY better chances any day of the week than just dying because you didn't hit back (an almost guaranteed death).
