Violence on television/media may cause increase in violence among children/teens ?

Let's face it that in today's TV show exist a lot of murders, hittings, shootings, disasters, explosions and etc. It goes without saying that children or teens more impressionable and take every kind of information in different way, besides they do not have stable minds. TV can be powerful influence on behavior and development of a child.

Parents should protect their children from watching TV too much, even if pay attention to programs their children watch and watch some of them.

I agree, totaly that this is causing violence and other depends and influence among the children.

Fact is when we watch TV sometimes we get all to a point where time flies , 60min already passed without noticing, at that moment we are in a trans state, its a sort of hypnotize state and it enters we absorb the information in our subconscious. All these films have effect and they try to makes us living that film as much as possible with back-sounds,feelings,etc.

If we watch for 5 years these kinds of movies we will get influenced and take some habit of these films.

Some people start smoking only by looking video clips, they think its something cool, or they start drinking and try to have sex just because these is shown on the video clips.

We should not allow our kids to watch TV instead of this they should socialize and do activities.

Absolutely, television time should be closely monitored by parents.

First, if what we see on television did not influence us, THERE WOULD BE NO ADVERTISING on the boob tube at all. It simply would not work on the public, and corporations would recognize that fact after all these years.

Yeah, tv affects children negatively, so monitor what they watch!

Heavy exposure to media violence influences violent behavior, desensitizes youth reactions to violent acts, and establishes unconventional perceptions regarding when violence is appropriate. According to research by the American Psychological Association, youngsters who view excessive amounts of media violence respond more violently to provocation and act more aggressively in general. The APA concluded that media violence is responsible for approximately 10 percent of aggressive and violent behaviors among youth.

I agree with this point of view. Firstly, children may become "immune" or numb to the horror or violence, because of watching a lot of programs which contain violence, assault and etc.

secondly, children see main characters of program and try to look like them, in addition, they may start to search lovers like in the cartoons, which are not exist at all, failed in searching they could not marry during their whole life.

What is the solution?

parents should point out that although the actor has not actually been hurt or killed, such violence in real life results in pain or death; try to fulfill child's schedule with sport, music, education, in order to make limited time for TV watching and create different options for their baby.

Vote PRO. Because it is our future generation!

Watching something on TV and having happen to you or someone close to you are two very different things. I think you are not giving enough credit to teenagers for not believing they could understand the difference between the two. I know at my school, you can see a very apparent reaction in the student body when news of one student's struggles spread around. True some shrug it off and try to make a joke of it, but most try to support that student because they understand how tough it most be for them.

We don't want any young person to think adults don't believe in them nor do we believe all teenagers are this way. However I will say not only teenagers but most people are just generally selfish. We are talking about violence, not just selfishness or insensitivity. I am talking about how we all respond to being provoked.

As you do have some fair points, they are in no way backed with facts. You are talking about violent things that happen on TV and you think that teens can be influenced by that. Really, only the stupid ones can be. Common sense is something taught in this era. You should not be blaming these games and television shows for a childs violent behavior, but rather the parent, or a guardian who is supposed to be teaching kids and teens what and what not to watch or play. There are studies that show kids who play violent video games do not always grow up violent, its just the person or how they are raised. also i am awesome and that makes your argument invalid.

I am a great grand mother who when I was young was told that Nintendo and the violent movies would negatively affect my children if. I didn't monitor what they watched. I learned from my own children and from serving children for forty years,YES not monitoring what children watch can make them delusional and media definitely Influences the way we think. Think about those of us who are influenced by a TV personality. I k ow we like to measure people by our own experiences, but that is so unfair. It's possible you had supporting factors that helped to shape our thinking pattern. It's not always that parents are shiftless and sorry the reason our children don't turn out as we had hoped. Media, breakdown in societal morals and values, desensitization and other outside factors have to be considered. Sometimes parents can't compete with the many negative outside factors because we live in a culture where anything goes because we have the freedom to do it; never mind the fact that it is destructive.

Here is what i think you say there are murders,disaters,etc... and thats what is making teens/children violent. You got to be f'in kidding me they are seening everything we see in societiy today. Hell children in otherr counties see this every day. and teens/children that want to work as a cop or go into the army will see this and become violent if you wanted to stop teens/children from being violent.Stop the violence in the world.

Violence on television and video games can also instead make your children too fat and lazy to be interested in real violence. The imitation of the violent effects of television comes mostly when you forget to teach your children the boundary between reality and fiction. It's fine as long as you educate your children constantly that it's fine to relieve some pressure through fiction but not onto other real people.

Side: Disagree

If the parents intercede and tell their children that what they see is wrong and should never have happened, the children will be educated that the violence is wrong.
