Warming or Cooling

Is the Earth really warming and headed for complete destruction or is it possible that we are actually in a global cooling session?

I dont believe all the hype of a "man made" global warming. This is just hype to destroy America's free enterprise system.

Dr. Mitchell Taylor, barred from the Copenhagen Climate Summit because he doesn't believe in global warming. He spent the last 30 years studying polar bears - and he claims that their numbers are increasing.

There are thought to be between 20,000 and 25,000 polar bears in the world, and all but one member of the PBSG believe global warming poses a critical threat to their long-term survival. The exception, quoted by contrarian writers, is Dr Mitchell Taylor from the Government of Nunavut, who remains sceptical about the climate modelling projections and their impact. 'I'm not sure I understand his logic,' Stirling says. 'However, at the last meeting of the IUCN PBSG in Seattle in June 2005 the group [including Dr Taylor] unanimously agreed to classify the polar bear as vulnerable.'

The writer of the article you link to is distorting science to fit his agenda.

What Dr. Jones said is that there has been "no statistically significant warming for last 15 years." Not "no warming." It just hasn't been significant statistically speaking. But only by just a bit.

"The positive trend is quite close to the significance level. Achieving statistical significance in scientific terms is much more likely for longer periods, and much less likely for shorter periods." [1]

How convenient that the article to failed to mention that. And this:

"I'm 100% confident that the climate has warmed. As to the second question, I would go along with IPCC Chapter 9 - there's evidence that most of the warming since the 1950s is due to human activity." [2]

There you go. The guy you cite as proof that global warming isn't happening and, if it is, it's not our fault, says, "there is human caused global warming."

Try better next time.

Great idea, especially since CreateDebate has merged with Hot or Not.

All of the world's major bodies of climate scientists support the conclusion of over 100 years of research and multiple robust lines of evidence that our current global warming is human-caused.

Speaking of the "free-enterprise system", do you think that tobacco companies should be free to market cigarettes to children and to deny the science concluding that smoking causes cancer.

That is exactly what they did for years, leading to more deaths from cancer and another generation addicted to smoking. In this effort, they were aided by sham-scientists on their payroll and the exact same lobbyists now working for the companies debunking human-caused global warming, and using exactly the same tactics! Only this time what is at risk is not some kid picking up a life-destroying habit, but the destruction of the human race.

Where will your free-enterprise system be then, if the lies of the de-bunkers prevail?
