CreateDebate is a social debate community built around ideas, discussion and democracy.
If this is your first time checking out a debate, here are some quick tips to help get you started:
Arguments with the highest score are displayed first.
Argument replies (both in favor and in opposition) are displayed below the original argument.
To follow along, you may find it helpful to show and hide the replies displayed below each argument.
To vote for an argument, use these icons:
You have the power to cast exactly one vote (either up or down) for each argument.
Once you vote, the icon will become grayed out and the argument's score will change.
Yes, you can change your vote.
Debate scores, side scores and tag scores are automatically calculated by an algorithm that primarily takes argument scores into account.
All scores are updated in real-time.
To learn more about the CreateDebate scoring system, check out the FAQ.
When you are ready to voice your opinion, use the Add Argument button to create an argument.
If you would like to address an existing argument, use the Support and Dispute link within that argument to create a new reply.
Just like you vote based on not believing anything?
Just like you do all the 'atheist stuff' whatever that is? Just as if you know?
You don't know anything either, so stop acting like you do.
You don't know whats after death, you can't prove God doesn't exist.
I don't know whats after death, and I can't prove that God exists.
There is no difference between you and me, expect our religion. Our actions are based on our religion. Whether you Christian, Buddhist, atheist, Hindu or anything else, your actions will always be based on your belief and experience.
If you don't know, why bother asserting there's a god other than for emotional reasons?
Unlike religious people, who have their morality dictated to them by robe clad old men, I have to actually think about my actions and how they affect others. That is why I feel atheists are often more moral than the religious. They have to think about things. But then again, if you are religious, you're probably not that great at thinking in the first place, just sayin'.
Well, I have to live with my actions too, and if you think Christians don't have to, you are very wrong.
I've done some bad things in my life, and its not like I can ask God to forgive me, and then its all over.
I have to apologize to people my actions might have caused them to get sad or angry or whatever.
Yes, I apologize to God. I'm not a catholic, so I don't do that when I've done something, that I go to the priest and blabla.. I really don't know what they do there but thats not the point here.
The point I'm trying to say is, that people think I have a great life, because God forgave me for every mistake I've made in my life.
Just because God forgave me, doesn't mean everybody else forgave me. And its not very fun going around and know, that there are some people I've done something so bad, that they can't forgive me.
I am a scientist. I study science. How do you study it? You observe it. You can't make stuff up and you don't guess. You don't believe things, you know things based on evidence and facts, and if you're wrong, you admit it and change your theory.
That is a LOT more dependable to rely on than religion.
What is after death? Why do you assume there is something after death? Do you know why it's called death?
Because you die. It sounds grim, but it is grim. Making death into a passage into what? Heaven? An excellent place? No, that is wishful thinking, but it cannot be proven. You can believe it, but I will say it's either wrong, or impossible to know. Because it's impossible to know, just as it's impossible to know unicorns exist, I will assume it doesn't exist.
You can't change reality by believing something that isn't reality.
God was intelligent to not create life on mars because God created earth to be a place for us humans to live on earth. Also it's God's will whether or not he should put life on Mars. But since he put life only on earth we must accept the fact that we are the only life forms.
By the way, the word "earth" is made up by humans.
God called it earth too when he made it and before humans considered it a word.
How can you know there aren't any other lifeforms out there? Have you seen everything and been everywhere?
I believe that humans and animals are the only life forms. If their was other life forms we would be well informed by now of it but since we are not informed about any other life forms we can accept the fact their are no aliens.
I forgot to put animals. Sorry its only a minor mistake.
You are probably a creationist or something, but the universe is VERY old.
The universe is also VERY big.
There is likely life. There has likely been life before, and after the Earth is burnt by the expanding sun, unless we survive due to science and technology, there will likely be life in the future on other planets.
I believe that humans and animals are the only life forms.
Believing is not enough even if you think it is. Give solid evidence stating that life here on Earth is the only life in existence.
A question to you. Is your God also a living being?
If their was other life forms we would be well informed by now of it but since we are not informed about any other life forms we can accept the fact their are no aliens.
Informed by who? God? First prove "he" exists. Something you cannot, ever, do.
To think that your conception of intelligence is enlightened enough to judge what God ought and oughtn't to do infallibly is inexcusably arrogant, and evidence that your grasp of theology and the logical implications omnipotence is very limited.
Seriously, so many New Atheists would benefit from reading just a little Leibniz.
Why don't you look at that one common phrase? It's a decent phrase, but if you think that it's not important, and that God can continue doing what he wants, then whatever.
"What would Jesus do?"

And I don't see how it's arrogant. Right now, there's no proof of any gods or their intelligence.
This question was a dead end from the beginning. Are elves not magical enough to raise Atlantis?
You have got to be kidding me... He is not smart enough?! Think of how complex things of science work. Think of the cells in our body to the galaxies around us. God has limitless intelligence.

On the contrary, God is intelligent enough to create life on other planets (Mars), but too stupid to keep them alive elsewhere. And that is why only Earth has life on it.
There might be some very powerful beings but if they exist they are not gods. When it comes to religion-specific gods then they do not exist because they supposedly did something that is impossible and that something is what religion itself is based on. Simple logic - something you lack.
If you follow a religion you don't bend its rules (contradicting religion, denying some of its rules), if you do then you have created a new religion. And by that definition, by the rules of the original religion, you will go to hell. Have a nice and happy roasting!
God didn't create mars.God created only earth. So unless this isn't just a dumb joke, please try something else like I don't know, try making a debate that actually has a meaning for a change?
