Was Ned Kelly a victim?

I'm just looking for ideas that make Ned Kelly a victim.

Hope this doesn't start a WW3.

After conducting some basic research, it would appear that Ned was a product of his environment, therefore being clasified as a victim of circumstance. Had Ned grown up in a wealthy family, he may have been crafty enough to create businesses and become an honest and respected figure in society. Therefore, I would say Ned Kelly was a victim of circumstance.

His Family wasn't wealthy at all, they struggled to put food on the table and also Ellen Kelly (Mother of Ned Kelly) was also struggling on looking after 7 children, why do you think he stole and murder it was because he believe that if he stole and gave back to the poor. He was definitely a victim because what they did to Ned Kelly's body after he was hanged was a disgrace! No offence doesn't look like you did enough research. :0 Although I know he was a Victim!!!!!

I'm a little tired and lazy at the moment, so I will just paste a previous argument I made relevant to this debate. I hope my points in this argument will be disputed this time;

I find him more of a victim than a villain. In his early years, he saved a young boy from drowning. Later on in his life, his friend had lent him a horse which was in fact stolen without Kelly's knowledge. This had got him unjustly arrested for a few years. Also, some say when Ned had murdered 3 cops it was mainly for self defense, as they came to him with guns and allegedly shot at him first...

Also, people had made up most of his crimes, and even made up things about his mother, which led to his innocent mother's arrest. You can't really blame him from rebelling against the law and such; he was the son of Irish convicts who obviously despised the English.

I think Ned Kelly is a victim because first of all Constable Hall said that he would have the pleasure of shooting Ned dead. He was accused for stealing a horse that he didn't even steal also he got unfair sentences, which was 3 years for riding a horse that was stolen, and the guy whole actually stole it got 18 months in jail. its funny though because Ned got

3 years jail and the guy who stole the horse got 18 months, that is totally not fair. He also

saved a young boy from drowning. This is why i think Ned Kelly is a victim.

Constable Hall shouted “I’m arresting you, for stealing this horse”, Ned did not know that the horse was stolen, the man who stole the horse was Wild Wright, and Ned was in jail when the horse was stolen, I think it’s unfair that the person that actually stole the horse went to jail for eight months meanwhile Ned went to three years hard labour. Constable hall yelled “I have the pleasure of shooting you dead”, Ned was shocked more shocked then he will ever be.

didn'td Kelly didn’t have a positive role model or a normal childhood. As a young boy, he and his family were constantly targeted by the police and squatters for being poor and a Kelly. Ned Kelly had little money, food and water for his family, cattle and himself but still managed to pull it off and become the well-knownbush rangerr his is today. His father, Red Kelly was very rarely sober and spent some time in jail and doing hard labour for stealing pigs and cattle which left the role of the father empty. Being the oldest boy, Ned Kelly fit the job. He was the man of the house for 30 odd years.

Ned Kelly and his family are Victims

Ned Kelly, a 'Ruthless', 'Murderous' Villain, but people who label him as that don't know who he really is. Edward 'Ned' Kelly, a bushranger born in 1854 that was innocent until he became head of his house, but if your family was suffering and you lost your father as a child, would you have done the same thing that Ned did?

Ned Kelly lost his father at the age of 12 and became the head of his house because he was the eldest son, and he had led himself to do bad things so his family could survive and did some other kind things. Ned Kelly was also wronged and imprisoned for stuff he didn't even do, which he couldn't plead not guilty because it sounded like some stuff he would do.

What if Ned Kelly never did that stuff? Australia wouldn't have such an exciting linage, But then again, he killed people and robbed banks, stole and many more, But that doesn't define him as a person himself. Ned Kelly could've been a compassionate man, or a gloomy man, but he threw away all his chances to discover things, just to look after his family.

Yes Ned Kelly is a victim because he was abused, often targeted and mistreated because of his family's name. On top of that he got abused because he told the truth in court. And he was also wrongly accused of snitching on Harry Powers but it was actually his uncle and everyone called him a snitch. Also his family was harassed by the drunk corrupted Constable Fitzpatrick and speaking of Fitzpatrick he also sexually harassed Ned's sister. So I don't know how he isn't a victim.

Ned Kelly is an Australian heroI think absolutely without a doubt, one hundred percent Ned Kelly is an Australian iconic hero because he gave money to the poor and embarrassed the police. He also saved a little kids life from drowning. He did this because he is a good person. It was in a creek called 'Hughs creek'. After Ned gave the boy back to his parents, the parents gave Ned a green and gold sash and Ned Kelly always wore that sash with pride

Ned Kelly is not a hero or a victim, he is a villain. He murdered officers whom had a family and stole from the rich. People say he is a modern day Robin Hood but he didnt really help the poor, in Neds eyes his family was poor so he only stole money to support them or to help them. Ned Kelly is a cruel and selfish person

Ned Kelly was a murderer. He killed three men. Made children fatherless. And left women as widows. He murdered, conned, stole animals and robbed numerous banks. He picked on defenceless citizens. He is a villain and our country should NOT be proud of that!!!

Ned Kelly, is a hero as he did give back the money he stole. If he was a villain he would've killed more people. When he was robbing banks, he would not just run away straight after he robbed the place, but he would feed the people he kept as prisoners, buy them some drinks and re-pay people he owed. And the way he talked nicely to them, he made them feel comfortable. He changed society. Without all the things he did in the past today wouldn't be the way it is. People would be the same as 1800's. He is a hero changing the world to the way it is today.

Edward Ned Kelly is not a victim! he is a kind hearted bushranger. yes, he did kill three men in total, but that was for his own safety. if it wasn't for him he would have ended up dead sooner. most importantly he did steal from 2-3 banks, but he wasn't a greedy rich guy, he shared it all with his family and friends. people loved him so much they didn't snitch on them instead they turned up the day before he was hung. 32000 people arrived arguing that Ned Kelly should not be hung and killed, even the towns people loved him so much. it was the police who had driven Ned Kelly to be a bushranger, not treating him the way he should be treated.
