Was capitalism invented, or was it something that just happened?
Hello:
Let's say two strangers, who had NEVER heard about capitalism, came upon each other.. The first guy had some stuff the second guy wanted, and, interestingly enough, the second guy had some stuff that the first guy wanted..
Would they just look at each other and go on their way, or would trade happen?

excon
STUPOR STUPID are you referring to bartering which has nothing to do with Capitalism? How DUMB is the business man you claim to be ???????????
This question is not exactly the easiest to answer because, depending upon when the original portion of a freeway was constructed, the widths can vary. They can also vary a little where lanes have been added to a freeway and there is no more room for expansion.
Overall, the following widths are fairly standard through the state.
An eight lane freeway would consist of an outside shoulder, four travel lanes, an inside shoulder and then on the other side, lanes going in the opposite direction, would be the inside shoulder, 4 travel lanes and an outside shoulder.
Outside Shoulders are generally 10' 4 lanes of travel way are 48' (12' per lane) Inside Shoulders are 8' So overall an eight-lane freeway would be 132' wide on an average.
Inside shoulders can vary from 5' to 8', Outside shoulders can vary from 5' to 10' and travel lanes depending upon the type of highway can vary from 10' to 15'.
Capitalism was definitely not invented, but neither did it just happen.
Your tale of two strangers can’t often occur if the strangers are completely distrustful of each other. It cannot happen if the things they have are stolen before they can trade them. It can only happen if their property is relatively secure and their trust of each other sufficient. Those requirements were achieved when institutions were invented to protect property/individual rights. Those institutions were invented to secure individual Liberty. Capitalism is simply the outcome of a free society. Another word for capitalism is economic liberty
Those requirements were achieved when institutions were invented to protect property/individual rights.
Hello A:
I dunno… Abuses to property and individual rights is as rampant today as it was in yesteryear.. I'm not saying we don't need COPS, but having COPS is NOT the reason capitalism works..
Abuses to property and individual rights is as rampant today as it was in yesteryear.
No, they really aren’t. Crime hasn’t only decreased recently, but over several hundred years.
You take for granted that you live in an incredibly high trust society. And while the advantages of societal trust can take on a life of their own, the institutions that insure our Liberty lay at the foundation of that trust.
God, you are so stupid. Capitalism "works" by making an appeal to human greed and selfishness
It works because unlike you, smart people buy what they can afford and live financially secure because of it. You're poor and struggling because you're a fucking idiot.
But it doesn't work, you insufferable retard. Your entire premise is false. It is forced onto people. Nobody gets a choice about whether they want capitalism. Do you think that just saying "capitalism works" is going to feed the 41 million people who go hungry in your country every day? You literally have no acknowledgement of reality, do you? In 2008 we found out exactly how much capitalism doesn't work when 1.2 million homes were taken away from American families because of a market collapse they had absolutely nothing to do with!!
unlike you, smart people buy what they can afford
There are 41 million people in your country who cannot afford food you insane terrorist prick. The very fact that you blame the people when capitalism does not work proves that you are insane. The entire point of an economic system is so that it benefits everybody, not just you personally you corrupt piece of shit. You sound exactly like Robert Mugabe, which is ironic, given that he was another big fan of capitalism.
But it doesn't work, you insufferable retard. Your entire premise is false. It is forced onto people.
The societies we live in are based on capitalism and most seem happy enough with their lot as mostly they work ,your assertion that capitalism is forced onto people is another absurd claim you cannot defend .
How exactly would you introduce your totally socialist model into society ? By force no doubt ? Also I note with amusement you rush to claim countries are Socialist because they have social welfare and medicine etc , etc , I live in one such society but it’s purely capitalist so again that’s another claim you cannot defend
Nobody gets a choice about whether they want capitalism.
They could always fuck off to a purely socialist haven like Venezuela couldn’t they ?
Do you think that just saying "capitalism works" is going to feed the 41 million people who go hungry in your country every day?
Do you know the exact reasons why 41 million people go hungry where are your stats ?
You literally have no acknowledgement of reality, do you? In 2008 we found out exactly how much capitalism doesn't work when 1.2 million homes were taken away from American families because of a market collapse they had absolutely nothing to do with!!
We had a worldwide recession in 2008 many people suffered but many people prospered as well , during our Celtic Tiger period at home every second person blew money like it was going out of fashion , people bought houses at ridiculous prices the average Joe was buying property in Spain something unheard of.
Then the crash came and it was idiots like this who mainly suffered I paid off my mortgage during the crash because I was one of the ones who did not get carried away with the lunacy
There are 41 million people in your country who cannot afford food you insane terrorist prick.
Why can they not afford food ? Why is the worlds media not alerting us to this devasting famine taking place in the U S ?
We already help the starving people of Africa where do we pledge capitalist money to the American famine victims ?
The very fact that you blame the people when capitalism does not work proves that you are insane. The entire point of an economic system is so that it benefits everybody, not just you personally you corrupt piece of shit.
But everyone can participate , it starts by getting a job something it seems you have not had much luck in securing .
You sound exactly like Robert Mugabe, which is ironic, given that he was another big fan of capitalism.
Marx was also a big fan of capitalism three fortunes invested and lost on the stock market and his buddy Engels was master of the local hunt and exploited his factory workers brutally but that’s different isn’t it Nom ?
In what specific way does capitalism appeal to greed and selfishness?
Because those who produce useful goods and services tend to be rewarded by society rather scantly compared to those who find ways to play the system for their own gain such as bankers and lobbyists and CEOs. Those are the types of people who OWN the government, because politicians either come from that crowd or are financially indebted to them. That is what I meant when I told outlaw that Obama is the result of american society, and all the "liberal socialists" he hates are actually put in power by capitalism. Their goal is to expand the power of the state which makes them the exact opposite of socialists.
"But but but...it's not FREE MARKET capitalism".
You are exactly the type of subhuman trash to say something like that, then talk about how socialism is about the state owning the means of production and claim I am committing the fallacy that you are guilty of when I say that socialism is about the PRODUCERS owning the means of production.
Because those who produce useful goods and services tend to be rewarded by society rather scantly
What a sweeping generalization, what are “useful goods “ ?
Are all such people rewarded scantly
compared to those who find ways to play the system for their own gain such as bankers and lobbyists and CEOs
I’ve a brother a CEO of a large American company he does not play any system for his own gain as you put it , gains made are company gains of which he benifits according to his skill sets .
How do you come up with these sweeping generalisations , what are they based on?
What a sweeping generalization, what are “useful goods “ ?
fidget spinners and coca cola according to American culture.
I’ve a brother a CEO of a large American company he does not play any system for his own gain as you put it , gains made are company gains of which he benifits according to his skill sets .
What skill sets might those be? What skills does he have to contribute that can justify the fact that 99% of the work is done by employees who get 1% of the profit while he makes fat stacks from other people's work?
His only skill is sitting around eating lobster and caviar and collecting profit from other people's work.
fidget spinners and coca cola according to American culture.
Another sweeping generalisation

He worked his way up from bottom to top something anyone wit( ambition cand do , you make it sound like the average worker is a dumb brute who does not realise he \she is being abused
His only skill is sitting around eating lobster and caviar and collecting profit from other people's work.
Nonsense , if that was the case he would be unemployed as he would be of no use to the company
Yes kids, don't grow up to be like Binkle, because Binkle is a terrorist.
According to a Southern Poverty Law Center report published in February 2018, over 100 people have been killed and injured in 13 attacks by alt-right influenced perpetrators since 2014. Political scientists and leaders have argued it should be classified as a terrorist or extremist movement.

All the ones who don't have any capital, yes. The clue is kind of in the name, Dermot. Say it really slowly with me now: C-A-P-I-T-A-L-I-S-M. If you don't have any capital then you can't get your goods or services on the market and you can't effectively advertise them to consumers.
You don’t even know what you’re babbling about now you idiot as your evasion of what I actually asked you is typical of of your usual empty egotistical posturing
Are you talking about the "evasion" where I gave you a direct answer to your question?
No , I'm talking about you evading what I actually asked
Let's be honest with each other Dermot. You're a bit of an idiot, aren't you?
You don't do honesty as you're a compulsive liar , remember how you claimed "Buh , buh Steel cannot melt as I red it in ahh science buck " and yet you call others idiots😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
No , I'm talking about you evading what I actually asked
But I didn't evade what you asked. I answered it directly. I've noticed that you seem to have a lot of trouble when it comes to accepting objective reality. You prefer to make up your own version, do you not?
"Buh , buh Steel cannot melt as I red it in ahh science buck "
But obviously you are a liar and I did not say that or anything remotely like that.
But I didn't evade what you asked. I answered it directly.
You didn’t , but that’s typical
of you
I've noticed that you seem to have a lot of trouble when it comes to accepting objective reality
What are you babbling about you imbecile ?
. You prefer to make up your own version, do you not?
My own version of what you idiot ?
But obviously you are a liar and I did not say that or anything remotely like that.
Which is why you have 43 accounts and deny the fact oooookay 👌😂 You did say steel cannot melt and claimed “ Buh , buh a Danish ( peer reviewed 👌😂😂😂😂) scientist agreed with you .... Oh and a janitor as well so they must be right
I don’t think I did. I was busy upvoting your opponents. If you had made an argument, I would be sure to reply. Instead you gave up and called me names....because you’re a very smart person
You asked me how bankers are rewarded by society. To anyone with a brain this would be obvious, they are rewarded by society because there job is to be given money, hold on to money, charge interest for money, and in some cases they can even create money out of thin air and take most of it for themselves.
You said society rewards producers scantily, and reward others such as bankers more. I asked how society rewards all of them. No ones job is to be given money.
So again, how does society reward people?
If you want me or anyone else to die any time soon, you’ll have to do it yourself.
I see, you want a general answer not just about banking or any other specific subject. Well, I think I can help you with that. Here are the five ways to receive your rewards in capitalism:
1) The first and most common option is to perform tasks for someone who has way more money than you. These tasks can be anything from mopping shit off public bathroom stalls to assembling aircraft parts. What remains the same however, is that your job is to do all the work for some rich guy while he dolls out crumbs of the profits to his workers just enough to keep them working and dependent on corporate slavery.
2) You can be rewarded greatly by society just for being born if you have the right parents. It's called inheritance, these people often don't have to work at all. Inheritance is the idea that some people are entitled to be handed everything in life just for emerging from the right sack of ovaries while millions of children go hungry in America.
3) You can own the means of production. These people are usually rewarded through inheritance as well which is how they managed to buy the land resources to convince other people to produce things and give them 90% of the profits for just "owning" the business. An example would be Trump's "small loan" of a million dollars, because rich people like Trump toooootally got where they are through hard work and just being smarter than everyone else. See how that works? He can afford to own businesses and real estate because his daddy gave him a million dollars.
4) You can be gay and stupid. Society rewards people like Jake Paul, Lil Wayne, Justin Bieber etc. for getting in front of a camera or microphone and making gay noises and doing stupid things. Very rarely do entertainers with an intelligent message or real artistic skill get rewarded by society to such an extent.
Here are the five ways to receive your rewards in capitalism:
To sum up, I asked how society rewards people. Your respond is that there are 5 ways to receive rewards, and they are:
1. Get employed.
2. Inherit
3. Own a business
4. Produce things that people other than Ryan want to buy
5. Be a criminal
You still seem to misunderstand my question. You don’t like how society rewards some vs others in a capitalistic system. I want to know how you think society rewards them. How does society reward the employed person? How is society reward me if I inherit my dead Dads car? What does society itself do for me if I got a small business loan to buy the means of production of houses?
I will unpack the other details later. Right now I am just seeking an answer to my earlier question
These tasks can be anything from mopping shit off public bathroom stalls to assembling aircraft parts.
Or acting as the chief executive officer for business owners.
job is to do all the work for some rich guy while he dolls out crumbs of the profits to his workers just enough to keep them working
Often the pay them enough to keep them working more happily and efficiently than the competition. Anything less and they will willingly leave.
corporate slavery
In this context, this is an oxymoron. Workers are paid. If they are t paid enough, they leave. Tell me, are you enslaved? And if so, what made you choose to be a slave? What else might you do?
It's called inheritance, these people often don't have to work at all.
This is factually incorrect. Most people who inherit things still have to work. Those incredibly few who don’t have to work are not actually better off. Do you want to be Parks Hilton? I don’t.
Inheritance is the idea that some people are entitled to be handed everything in life
This is also factually incorrect. Inheritance is the idea that you can give your stuff away if you want because it’s your stuff.
You can own the means of production. These people are usually rewarded through inheritance
This is also factually incorrect. Most owners of the means of production are small businesses. The funding for their venture is typically a small business people...produce things and give them 90% of the profits
Nice how you just plucked that number out of thin air. Why do you believe that people should be paid more than what they agree to work for?
You can be gay and stupid.
You’re statistically more likely to make more money if you are intelligent. Also, you don’t have to be gay, just share a household without having children. I expect that’s why gay people tend to make more over time.
Society rewards people like Jake Paul, Lil Wayne, Justin Bieber etc. for getting in front of a camera or microphone and making gay noises and doing stupid things.
I am part of society and I have never rewarded any of those people for anything. Maybe it’s some other facet of society that rewards them. Maybe it’s the folks who willingly pay them money because they find value in their product. You can blame them if you like, but. It society as a whole.
Very rarely do entertainers with an intelligent message or real artistic skill get rewarded by society to such an extent.
Perhaps they aren’t the wrong people for the job so much as you are the wrong market.
You can screw people over.
Society actively tries to punish criminal activity. Though crime sometimes pays, screwing people over is a bad long run model.
This is a typical Amarel distortion in which you falsely assert that wage-workers are so in demand they can simply have their pick and choice of jobs. Since jobs are necessary for the working class to continue living, then no, they cannot simply get up and "willingly leave" a job which is paying for their existence. In fact, in the UK, people who "willingly leave" a job are banned from claiming any form of unemployment benefit.
1.2 million homes were taken away from families by the banks. The same banks which were given trillions of dollars of taxpayer money to stop them from liquidating. You sneer at socialism while at the same time it stopped (temporarily) your own corrupt system from collapsing. But you're far too stupid to understand that, aren't you?
But obviously that's a circular argument. Nobody with any common sense would support a terrorist movement as you overtly do:-
According to a Southern Poverty Law Center report published in February 2018, over 100 people have been killed and injured in 13 attacks by alt-right influenced perpetrators since 2014. Political scientists and leaders have argued it should be classified as a terrorist or extremist movement.
Are you stupid? They could afford the loans when they took them out, but they weren't banking on being made redundant because of a recession they had nothing to do with. Does this compute you Nazi retard?
Nobody with any common sense would support a terrorist movement as you overtly do:-
And yet you refuse to denounce Farrakhan, ISIS and Al Qaeda.
According to a Southern Poverty Law Center report published in February 2018, over 100 people have been killed and injured in 13 attacks by alt-right influenced perpetrators since 2014.
There were nearly 4,000 people killed in one day on 9/11. About 100 were injured or killed in one day in Orlando. About 300 were killed or injured in the Boston Marathon. That's just 3.
A left wing extremist killed or injured about 900 people in one night in Las Vegas.
Overall the 30 largest export commodities had a worth of 317.2 billion British pounds. By comparison, electrical machinery was the largest UK import commodity, with a value of 61.4 billion British pounds. Mechanical machinery and cars made up the top three of most valuable import commodities.
NOM what you say about Capitalism you Little Gurl Muslim Lover !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Would they just look at each other and go on their way, or would trade happen?
You are conflating trade with capitalism, which is precisely what I'd expect from a revisionist imbecile such as yourself. Trade has existed for tens of thousands of years. Capitalism is a theory of political economy invented through the discourse of writers like Adam Smith and John Locke. It grossly distorts the concept of trade into a system for acquiring profit and, consequently, ensures that everything in the world is overpriced (since the seller is trying to profit rather than trade).
It grossly distorts the concept of trade into a system for acquiring profit
There is no conflation here. In excons story, the profit motive is the reason the two strangers traded in the first place. They both profited from their trade.
