Was former President Carter out of line for comments he recently made?
The issue is was former President Carter out of line for comments he made last week about racism playing a part in Obama's presidency? Public protest against some of his new controversial bills that they are proposing and trying to pass calling the public out and accusing us of racism.
Yes he was a one term one hit wonder that got us into one of the worst recessions since the great depression worse than it is now. Super high interest rates and out of control debt. One term president please go away your not worthy and stop with your ludicrous comments that do nothing but hurt the system instead of lifitng it up. My wife is part African American so when i disagree with her does that make me racist? I'm insulted that if we disagree with our president becuase of his color that his pundents are pulling the race card.
I know you'll probably brush these facts off as "liberal" propaganda.
You presented 2 facts that were both irrelevant as to if he is racist or not and added a slavery twist to it. Liberal prop for sure.
Now I don't know the guy, maybe he is racist. That's just it, how can you know? Racism is a bold charge to make. Especially with so little evidence.
The only thing you can fairly criticize him on is that he disrespected the president. And he apologized so you really can't fairly blame him there either. And Obama forgave him. Also Obama said it wasn't about race.
So, .... you guys should seriously once and for all, DROP IT.
The topic is do you think that the comments he made where out of line? I think yes he did nothing to help anything but only to hurt, someone should really tell him to be quite. The media loves this stuff and that's all I heard for 3 days was racism because of Obama's color, i just don't beleive that.
But no, while I do think his position on Joe Wilson is more than likely groundless (though some of our representatives are more than imperfect people as recent cases seem to highlight), I don't think he went overboard in his general message. I can understand why the GOP would spread nonsense about death panels (even though the end of life provision was introduced by a Republican) and such to discredit the president, I don't understand why pictures of Obama as a witchdoctor with bones through his nose are "relevant criticisms" of his yet to be enacted policies.
The people who stirred up this "grassroots" rally have been bombarding the airwaves with racial "name-calling"--race-baiting at every turn. You have news commentators throwing out completely asinine threats of healthcare reform being about reparations for black people, certain conservative radio shock-jocks consistently highlighting non-racial issues--as racial issues--as "Obama's America", often alluding that blacks are going to start dominating the political and social discourse to get back at white people.
The same dingleberry "dittoheads" that were scared about death panels are the same people who went out to march and throw tantrums at townhall meetings. They want "their" country back, and as Pat Buchanan lamented, he wants things back to the 50s and 60s because that's the America he remembers. And to be quite frank, that's not some fringe thing, 50s nostalgia is huge and fundamental to the modern conservative movement because it's seen as a time when WASP values were at their peak and things "were right".
But back to the point, when you have a bunch of people who by and large only watch/listen to Fox News, thank G-d for Glenn beck, don't have any alternative media outlets beyond the popular Limbaugh, and they're largely white and feel under threat by the race-baiters, Obama's race and what he represents (whether real or not) is a key part of it.
He said that the criticism that the president is getting is racially motivated because he is black. How much more clearer does that need to be about former Pres. Carter's comments? That's what he said. At least Obama has taken it in stride and made fun of it, that I give him credit for.
Absolutely, Insult and calling names is a sign you have lost the debate. To say that there is no reason for the criticism of Obama's policies other than racism is simply an acknowledgment that you can't dispute the claims. Because if you could, then you would.
What you have to realize is that Carter is over 80 years old and he was traumatized by his.... shall we say..., lack luster presidency. He is both in denial over his stupidity while president and currently he has either dementia or he's senile. In short, you can't blame an idiot for being an idiot. That's like kicking a man while he's down ;)
No, it is not. He was out of touch with reality then and he's out of touch with reality now. It is extremely harsh for him to say that the majority of people in this country are racist. It is harsh, unnecessary, cruel and insensitive for him to make such an accusation and I won't make excuses for him.
Do I agree with Carter? Of course not, the man's a fuckin' idiot. But when he makes retarded statements like these, it just shows us how far his idiocy goes.
Another good thing about this is that it lowers his credibility even more.
1. He's suggesting that someone's a racist because they disagree with a black guy. What are you when you disagree with Bush? "fighting the power". Disagree with Obama? "A racist". O-KKK.
2. Obama actually said that he doesn't find anyone racist if they disagree with him. So now Carter just contradicted Obama. Who supports him now? Probably radical groups like Code Pink who hate anyone who doesn't stop all war and fighting immediately.
"overwhelming portion of the animosity towards Obama is based on the fact that he's a black man."
Yes, that's HIS QUOTE. He's saying that MOST (sorry I didn't say most before, but it's really not that necessary, splitting hairs and all) people who disagree with Obama are racist.
Obama says that he does not believe that people who disagree with him are racist.
So... everything I said is basically right. Yes, I did it in a mocking way, but the point I was making was correct (only based on direct quotes and all).
That's not his quote. That's a paraphrase. That being said.
Quote: I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animositytowardPresident Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he's African American.
His point wasn't about people disagreeing with Obama. He was talking about the animosity TOWARDS Obama and the vitriolic epithets, both political and racial that are pointed at him.
yeah, because I forgot the words "intensely demonstrated" doesn't really change the quote much. If anything, it only helps prove my point.
There was a shit load of displayed animosity towards Bush. What did everyone say it was based on? The fact that they didn't like how he was running the country.
Why does it have to be racism now because it's Obama? the "intensely demonstrated animosity" now has to be because they're racist and not because they disagree with him. He's saying that those who don't like Obama are racist.
yeah, because I forgot the words "intensely demonstrated" doesn't really change the quote much.
No, it's because your analysis of his quote is wrong, which is why you had to change your "point" from it being an issue of "disagreeing with Obama" to "People who don't like Obama". The quote itself hasn't changed. It's just more accurate. Carter was not saying that people who disagree with Obama are racists. The quote supports that.
If anything, it only helps prove my point.
Not at all. It can't, since your point was that Carter was saying people who disagree with Obama are racists, when he was not saying that.
There was a shit load of displayed animosity towards Bush.
Yes there was, and this is irrelevant to Carter's position. In his opinion, most of the vitriol towards Obama is fueled by racism--and specifically the belief that he, as a black person, shouldn't be leading this country. His opinion on the current mood of the social discourse is irrelevant to what happened to Bush, since the circumstances aren't in any way analogous.
He's saying that those who don't like Obama are racist.
You've just changed your "point". How convenient. But, you have a bad habit of oversimplifying things. He's saying, again, that the animosity towards Obama is based on racism--not that people who "don't like Obama" are racists. Or that it "has to be because they're racists".
To suggest that "a large portion" of those who display their anger towards Obama, FOR WHATEVER REASON, is racist, is pointless. We all know that these people disagree with them. We all know they don't like him. He's saying that a large portion of them are racist.
Why? Because he disagrees with them and wants to belittle their beliefs to just racism. This has been going on for quite sometime since the campaign. Just because he doesn't say exactly "Anyone who disagrees with the Messiah is a racist" doesn't mean we can't read what he and his fuck head cocksucking faggots have been saying for about a year.
To suggest that "a large portion" of those who display their anger towards Obama, FOR WHATEVER REASON, is racist, is pointless.
I agree. Thankfully Carter never said that.
Just because he doesn't say exactly "Anyone who disagrees with the Messiah is a racist" doesn't mean we can't read what he and his fuck head cocksucking faggots have been saying for about a year.
It's easy to read between the lines. It's a blank space. You can fill any kind of nonsense into it.
There are hundreds of thousands of people who claim Obama is a socialist. Clearly, they are the minority of Americans who can't give a shit about how other people feel. Former President Carter can say whatever Former President Carter wants to say. In fact, he may well be kind of right. Obama is fucking stressed out by all the problems he has to deal with.
A weakened financial system, the war on terror, an 11.2 trillion dollar deficit, the lessening of public confidence in the federal government. He's doing his best OK? He wants to make life easier for Amercans, and here we get lots of people bitching and whining about him being a socialist. These kinds of remarks have no basis in real life. I'd like to see those people try being President. Then America would really turn to shit.
Obama is adding to the deficit by more than 4 times that. Obama no longer calls it a war on terror. I voted for Obama hoping that he would stand up for America instead he apologizing for us to other Totalitarian countries. Obama is losing people because he is scaring business away with all of his increase in taxes. If you research Obama his whole entire upbringing was by Marxist. I hope he is not as bad as he is starting out to look like that's why he is getting a lot of heat because a lot of middle road voters voted for him because he sounded pro private business and almost a blue dog but that is not to be. He promised transparency and he has not been.
NO! Why, because he's speaking the truth? I don't see anyone standing up saying it is wrong for white girls to go on national television, spitting in a black girls face, calling us ghetto, yet sleep with our men. They make me laugh how people say nothing when a white person does something to a black person. They laugh and continue, no one says a thing, But now someone stands up and admit that this America was built on hate and prejudice and intimidation, lies and murder. Now you want to speak up. Evil Bastards!
Carter's certainly entitled to his opinion. I don't think racism is the only reason a lot of conservatives are riled up, but it's certainly a secondary or potentially subconscious factor.
To those who disagree, I'd like you to answer:
1. Why are all birthers conservative, and why do they believe he was born in Kenya, even though all the evidence is to the contrary?
2. Why were there dozens of signs like these at every mccain rally and teabagger protest?
Not all "birthers" are conservatives. I'm not. Until all records are accounted for and a reasonable explanation as to why he paid over a million dollars to hide his records, I, along with other "truthers" will remain in lock step as to him being from Kenya. Becuase this is a very serious situtation. Needless to say it is forbidden by the Constitution. You know, the framework for this Republic. If he is not a natural born citizen, any and all law, policy, and descisions that were made by his administration are null and void. Have you any idea how much of a mess that is going to create? That, along with every congressman that supported him. They would be guilty of treason. All for simply not abiding by the Constitution they swore an oath to follow and protect. Also, by saying that last part, any politician that has attemtped and succeded in the railroading of the Constitution should be held accountable for their eagerness to divert from their original purpose of being an elected official, to represent the soveriegn, We The People.
I agree with you exactly on that issue he is the only president ever to lock up his files. Why is that. You should create a debate on that and see what the wing nuts think. I think that it should be mandatory that presidents open up their files so that we can see what they have written and where they are actually born. I'll tell you I have looked into it and this thing about his records goes deep. I did not know that it cost a million dollars for him to do that, that is scary what is he hiding?
