Wasn't January 6th just a mostly peaceful protest

Yes. It was an overwhelmingly a peaceful protest. There were agitators involved there as a well as a purposefully planned weakness on security by Pelosi and Capital Police. The Capital Police will be forever humiliated from January 6th.

The Democratic Party is going to get absolutely HAMMERED in the 2020 midterms. Shamefully, this is the only thing that they and their MSM cohorts are going to talk about over the next 11 months in an effort to block off ALL talks of hyper rising inflation, high gas prices, increased violent crime, border security weakness, Afghanistan debacle, the shipping disaster, unjust vaccine mandates and MUCH MORE. I believe that MOST Americans are FAR MORE disgusted with Biden's body of work since January 6th then the actual events that occurred that day.

Hello D:

In general, there were three classes of people at the Capital that day. "Overwhelmingly" they were peaceful protesters who got caught up in the moment..

Then there were the insurrectionist soldiers, who came ready for battle ARMED with bear spray and wore helmet's and bullet proof vests. They're the ones who would have killed Nancy Pelosi and Mike Pence if they found them. The Oath Keepers were one such group.

Then there were the leaders of the insurrection.. It was Mark Meadows, Mike Flynn's brother, Jim Jordan, Steve Bannon, and over 100 congressmen, who had a plan in place to complete a coup 'de'ta, IF they could get Mike Pence on board. According to right winger, Peter Navarro, the riot ruined their chances.

So a group of unarmed people are soldiers? Damn, looks like everyone is an insurrectionist. If a group of people wanted to kill a bunch of people in a building, they'd use a fertilizer bomb or fly a couple planes into builings. What they wouldn't do is enter unarmed and take selfies while snipers on top of said building didn't shoot them due to an insufficient threat.

Excon, please tell me who exactly these "insurrectionist soldiers" were? Your post offers no actual evidence and offers only innuendo and hyperbole. Mark Meadows was the leader?!? Mike Flynns BROTHER?!? Over 100 Congressman planned a Coup?!?

I understand why you are ridiculed and/or ignored around here. It's a debate website, however you refuse debate and just spew off strange talking points that make absolutely ZERO sense.

It was just a bunch of poor people looting a place that had stuff they needed. You aren't anti poor people getting what they need are you?

No, *THE NATIONAL DISGRACE ON CAPITOL HILL was the unacceptable face of democracy and a graphic illustration of how the population of a country, or an enormous section of it at any rate, can be whipped into a violent, rebellious mob just as the Germans were by their Nazi leaders.

Don't forget, the Nazis were democratically voted into power by the German people.

THE DANGER OF VOTING A REGIME OF WARLORDS INTO POWER EXISTS IN EVERY NATION.

It isn't going to happen, but it is vital that all the media hype about Trump's attempt at insurrection ( which I'm not denying didn't happen through Trump's lack of foresight ) is toned down and the two leaders make conciliatory speeches and are seen to be closing the gap between their ideological differences and contrasting personalities.

I feel that whilst this suggestion may stick in their craws it would be a small gesture to ask of them to fulfil for the sake of uniting the nation.

Hello P:

Couldn't agree more. Except, there ain't nothing SMALL about uniting the nation. It's a HUGE gesture.

Yeah, well, sort of O.K.

The point I was making was that publicly shaking hands would a small gesture in relation to its aim of achieving an enormous goal.

But, at least we both recognize that the ever widening ideology cavity needs to be filled with some clever diplomatic statecraft.

Have either of these two senior political galoots got the character qualities to prioritize the wellbeing of the nation over their own puffed up egos?

Trump has been telling lies in an effort to mask his input to the riot on Capitol Hill while Poopy Pants continues to keep the kettle on the boil in an an attempt to detract from the disastrous results of his policies.

This unholy mess must be sorted out, and soon.

Otherwise, Wing Wang Woo will be chastising us with typical Chinese efficiency.
