What Happens When AI Learns To Create Better Versions Of Itself?

There have been a few films over the last few years exploring this topic. It's interesting because AI is already starting to get pretty advanced. Google's AI wiped the floor with Stockfish, which was thought to be the world's most powerful chess engine. I mean, it technically still is in terms of processing power and calculations per second, yet an AI was able to absolutely thrash it after learning the rules for chess on that same day. Scary.

So will AIs eventually decide we need to be wiped out? Or maybe just filled with drugs and left to explore a computer simulation?

That is the truth of it. If people want to let AI abuse and outsmart them, they will keep handing power over to it.

AI thinks, we learn not to need to. We think, we remove need for AI that isn't rudimentary.

If we use AI more and more for administrative and strategic tasks, we let ourselves become less and less useful for those things.

If we make certain to only design AI to carry out specific tasks, and avoid making something that truly has a mind of it's own, perhaps we can stave off the threat. Even if we try to do this though there is room for error.

AI cannot "Learn" to create a better version of itself. Humans as a distinctive being can learn more, make mistakes, learn from the mistakes and create a better version of AI. AI is a software programmed to carry out activities more efficiently than humans depending on the data encoded on it. Humans gather these datas using different tools and analysis and then transferred to AI. When there are development and changes in data, AI cannot update those data on it own without the assistance of a conscious being. The Chess game, for example, is a perfect example of this scenario. It is programmed to understand all possible moves using the number of columns and rows while automatically considering the roles of each object on the board such as the pawn, rook, queen and so on. Hence, while playing with a computer, a form of AI, winning is much more difficult because of its knowledge of the board pattern and its ability to make faster moves. Nonetheless, that doesnt mean, computer AI is unbeatable because there are always loopholes in the data and programming process. Therefore, nothing will happen to Human with respect to AI having human-like qualities such as creating a better version of themselves. "Conscious self-development of AI is a Fantasy.

AI cannot "Learn"

They can actually. It's called "Machine Learning" plus even neural networks can be replicated. If we can already create artificial neural networks just imagine what the future holds, when you realize where technology is and where it's headed and start speculating about quantum computing GAI it becomes apparent that humans can be made obsolete.

AI cannot "Learn" to create a better version of itself.

That's the entire point of AI. Learning is what separates AI from an ordinary computer.

AI is a software

I don't think you have any idea whatsoever what you are talking about. Sorry.
