What Should Be The Legal Age For Sex?
and why obviously

I think the age of 17 is realistic and fair. But a mature 16 year old girl with an immature 19 year old guy COULD be what is best for both of them, emotionally and mentally. A cold hard age is not always ideal. But what if the 16 year old girl has had sex with 50 guys and the 19 year old guy is a virgin and not strong in many ways. Who is sexually harassing who in this instance. Her, him, both, neither. Tough call. 1

I think the whole point to the legal age for sex was to have as low a level of health risk as possible on the body of a minor. A girl who's six or even five can't possibly have sex with a man who's nineteen, even thirty, as that might cause the child as much distress as having develop possible sicknesses later. On the point of maturity, some might say that as long as both sides achieve their common goal of "ecstasy" it would be good enough sex. Perhaps the aftermath of a hot night should be taken into consideration when the woman is impregnated. That's why there's a legal age for sex, because the authorities trust people around the age of fifteen or above to make the right choices. Nature answered that question 1000s of years ago. If you're old enough to bleed, you're old enough to breed. There's nothing dirty or wrong about sex. Some people try to make it seem so for the young, and then suddenly, after an artificially determined age limit, it's great. It's only in relatively recent times that the life expectancy has increased in the west where most people live to their late 70s and, more often than not, well beyond. However, for centuries the life expectancy was between 40 to 45 years. This natural, ( without the aid of modern medicines and hygiene awareness), short adult lifespan necessitated the reproduction process to commence earlier as it still does in most of the more backward nations. To facilitate the dreamed up morals of religious zealots and pompous old legislators we overrule nature and set our own limits. Nature vs sanctimony. I agree with this to an extent. Any other mammal is considered completely physically mature once they reach sexually maturity. In fact, as far as I am aware, once any other mammal reaches sexual maturity it is considered an adult. I am of the belief that we have extended childhood far beyond what our bodies are actually doing. I believe the age of consent should be when the individual starts feeling the desire to have sex. I personally feel it is immoral to deny minors the means of legal sexual exploration. I do however believe hat there should be mandatory education of both the positive and negative potential consequences of sex, along with some references to what is and is not healthy sexual behavior, physically, mentally, and emotionally. The legal age set by our society in creating laws that set the legal age for consent at an age when our maturity is considered appropriate at that time in history for whatever actions we will face, sex, drivers licence, drinking alcohol etc etc and so that is what we should abide by. 1

The difficult part of this topic is that there are several factors that need accounting for, including maturity, responsibility, and ease of influence. Two mature and responsible 13 year-olds know what they're doing and can keep safe despite their age; an immature/irresponsible 25 year-old is going to make a mess for themselves eventually, even if they're legally an adult. One simple age would be a guess as to when most people become mature enough to handle it. That being said, a lack of a legal age would mean that a 35 year-old could convince a young, impressionable teen to have sex, even if the individual might not have wanted to at first. In other words, a lack of a legal age makes it harder to deal with cases of kids being taken advantage of. If kids were to have sex with kids, and adults have sex with adults, it'd be fine to have no legal age. The issue is sex between minors and adults. Perhaps there should be a defined age gap they need to fall within? I'd say six years isn't too bad. 1

. honestly i don't see what the fuss is about with older and younger people having sex or being in a relationship. if either of them is not being honest or is merely trying to seduce the other without the others knowledge or is raping the other, then it could be put in the light of wrong in my opinion, but young to old relationships shouldn't really be as prominent as an issue... sure it is quite weird and rather unusual, but i don't think people should be condemned for their choices, especially with something so irrational as love potentially being involved.i would agree with not having a legal sex age. if there are problems with irresponsible people having kids or being in relationships they don't want, they can leave, or if they feel it is necessary they can have an abortion Wow, look at this girl. If I saw her I would not believe her age. In Spain the age of consent is 13 (previously 12). The age of criminal responsibility is 14. If there is any coercion then it is an offence up until the age of 16 or 18 (can't recall which). Seems perfect to me. It means that minors that have sex with each other cannot be prosecuted and pederasts that exploit young teenagers are criminally liable. 1

All humans are born with the ability to have sex. We're animals. Monkeys have sex. Dolphins have sex. We are just civilized. However, we do not take away the right to have sex at whatever age simply because another person does not agree with it. America the FREE. With the FREEdom to have sex with whomever, whenever we choose to. 1
