What are your morals and why?

Everybody finds moral salvation in different forms, but how did you find yours? Were they from a religion, a philosopher or yourself? And more importantly WHY do you follow them? Is it for the benefit of others or yourself?

You're asking personal morals? I believe in the most good for the most people in most things I suppose. I don't trust generalizing morality though, the world is too complex.

I'm not sure I agree with the assumption that everyone finds "moral salvation" though. I think that certainly is an individual feeling, and can vary drastically from one perons to another and even from one society to another, but not everyone at some point reaches as state of feeling they've lived overall morally or come to a conclusion about what that would be. I don't even think it matters so much if others would say that person has been moral. I'm sure there are murders and rapists who figured out how to justify their behavior to themselves while not being sorry, and "good" people who have died with guilt.

I also think not everyone even bothers to consider that question in a real sense at some point in their lifetime.
