What contex of "normal" may we classify the general society as?

If everyone is different, then what is "normal"?

"Normal" is some sort of average of everyone's differences. It could be the mean of everyone's differences (differences/total #). Or it could be the median (middle # of all differences). Or the mode (most commonly occurring #). Or something else.

But why do we always tend to outcast those that we see aren't "normal"? Because this country is described as a "melting pot of many cultures" which is also a melting pot of differences among individuals. And at a young age we are taught that we should love ourselves for who we are because there is no one else like us, but as we grow older, we tend to try to be like other people, but the fact of the matter is, its an impossible feat. So why do we try to be "normal" since there really is no such thing?

I agree with what you're saying. That's one of the reasons I gave so many different ways we could define "normal." I'm not exactly sure why you disagreed with what I said; maybe I misunderstood what the debate was asking. It seems like I was trying to determine "normal" as that which the largest majority of the population have in common, while you were (correctly) pointing out the fact that, fundamentally, we cannot make everyone "normal."

Point to any person. Normal is what s/he is not.

NO person sits on the hump of the bell curve in all matters. For some we lean toward the higher end, and for many the lower end.

Normal is the myth that there is no bell curve.
