Weigh in

This is the film by Geert Wilders. He's a Dutch writer who is now under protection in the Netherlands.

Most websites have removed this video, including You Tube. Google still has it posted as of today but, will probably bow to pressure soon. It is about 16 minutes long but, worth the time.

Can be a little tough to watch in spots But.....

If my memory serves me right, history is starting to repeat itself.

By studying how previous generations dealt with a similar situation in their time, we may be able to find guidance for dealing with our situation in our time.

But hey, that's just me.

Wow, what an insightful video. Thanks for sharing. I have to admit that as I was watching this video my blood almost began to boil. I think we've become a bit desensitized to the fact that many Muslims throughout the world want nothing more than to blow us to a million pieces.

While I don't think the best way to stop this is to blow them up first and I agree we need to take action to better their conditions so they don't feel so desperate, I can't help but feel angry when I see that.

What are some options for dissuading them from wanting to kill us? Is it education? Financial support? Killing the clerics that preach this garbage? Any other ideas?

Side: How can we stop this hatred

Well, lets see....

How did we disuade the south from slavery?

How did we disuade the Nazis from the Halocoust?

Just a couple of thoughts I thought I'd throw out there.

How does the old adage go....?

"All that is required for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing."

I think that whenever we get cocky enough to let our guard down we need to re-visit this video and remind ourselves what hatred has wrought and what it can bring. I'd also like to go over the passages in the Qur'an which they read from and see if the English translation is accurate and not an extrapolated version of lunacy.

I've saved the video to my own files and shared it on My Space so people can see it before it disappears. People are not born to hate. As the song says, "You've Got to be Carefully Taught." (From "South Pacific")

Way too divisive. He advocates expelling Muslims from Europe... then how will you ever understand their culture? How will you find ways to counteract these radical strains of Islam?

IMO, the rise of radical Islam is all about winning hearts and minds to their cause. Hatred like this makes it easier for extremist groups to attract more converts, as moderate Muslims may feel that the other side does really hate them.

Side: Lots of bias

OK, kinda like the Godfather/maffia motto, "Keep you family close but your enemies closer!"

Yep. Keeping them close allows you to monitor their actions, react swiftly, and forces you to show the best side of yourself, which aids immensely in converting hearts and minds.

However, there is always the possibility that they might attack, but the chances of that are lowered if you are constantly spying on them, and trying to assimilate them into your culture.
