Let's try to make an exhaustive list of possibilities... Lawyers might leave their client based on:

1) Other commitments

2) Personal hardships

3) Risks they didn't realize before or knew at the beginning but are no longer willing to take

4) Convinced they cannot win

5) They might win, but know they're with a scoundrel, and just don't want to help them get off

Other commitments is indeed a reason given by some of Trump's lawyers who left. But what can be a higher commitment than the President of the USA? And quited frankly it's hard to believe they didn't know about these others before they signed on with the President Basically, even if other commitments were true, it's an embarrassment to the President.

Personal hardships - like someone dieing, does happen. Haven't heard that reason yet with the Trump attorneys.

Risks - It's fascinating that working with the President is largely considered a career booster, yet suddenly it's a black mark, like a career killer. Not good for Trump.

Convinced they cannot win- This is highly likely. Whether it be because the case is too strong against him, or simply they can't win because Trump can't follow advice and keep his fool mouth shut. Not good for Trump.

Might win but don't want to now - Well, this would mean even in a den of thieves the rest of the thieves no longer trust or believe in the king thief to pull through. Not good for Trump.

Hey, look folks, for decades Trump had a full slate of lawyers and they helped him steamroll through some crazy stuff. So how is it now that he's been President for a year and supposedly in the most stable and powerful position he has ever held that suddenly only one attorney is left defending him? How?

When you see rats desserting ship you know the ship is going down.

I'm hearing Trump is widely known as "the world's worst client" and I believe it.

He won't take advice, doesn't pay his legal bills (and many others) and humiliates

everyone who supports him.

I'd bet a fair amount of money that by the time this is all over anyone on Trump's side

will regret it for the rest of their lives.

Gosh. Well at least he is leader of the free world and not that terrible Hillary woman who had the private e-mail.

(This whole thing is just so stupid. Just stupid people following a stupid leader for stupid reasons and reinforcing their commitment to stupidity by giving unconditional love and support for king stupid. The world's worst client shouldn't be in the world's most powerful position).

That you suck as a person and they don't want to bother with you. Either that or you are a lost cause and they don't want you to drag their numbers down.
