What is democratic socialism?

It is the belief that, once you stop lying to people, they will vote for socialism because it is in their own best interests to do so.

Would you consider yourself a Social Democrat in the short term due to feasibility, and Democratic Socialist on a longer-term/future?

One of the major issues with Democratic Socialism is that it is a tremendous subsidy to stupid/ignorant people, and essentially gives them extreme power over the more intelligent/educated who are in the minority/extreme minority.

This is what Meritocracy attempts to overcome, the idea is to give more qualified people more influence in society--as demonstrated/earned through performance.

Democratic functioning can work very well when the groups involved are of somewhat similar abilities. This is why I support Worker Co-operatives (or Market Socialism) under such certain conditions.

It is what the U.S. has been living under while we were "great". I agree, we need to get back to that.

The US was never democratic socialist. Democratic socialism is a political ideology that advocates political democracy alongside social ownership of the means of production with an emphasis on self- management or democratic management of economic institutions within a market socialist or decentralized socialist planned economy.

Bernie Sanders is a "soft" Social Democrat, while the Green Party USA are "strong" Social Democrats. It is quite different than Democratic Socialism

Yes. Bernie was just a bit too ...... unrealistic. If he had toned it down a little I could have voted for him.
