Love is a complex stew of the individual's biology and psychology as expressed within a context set by society. It's true. And those who simply say it's God or religion are actually referring to the societal component, because the scope and practices and meaning of love varies in the religions of different societies. Look, we do know biology is a large part of it. Pheremones and biological urges all drive people. We also know psychology is a big part of it. That's why you want whom you want That's how you choose to interact with the love. And we also know society is a big part, whether it's the customs of marriage and divorce, the legal ages for love, the taboos against some loves, the number of loves, etc. It's all part of the bigger whole which equals love. First off......yes and no are not viable options to a question of....what is?..... You need to offer options in a query of that sort. Yea or nay questions pose an opening statement or opinion and then offer us the option of agreeing to one of them. Now then......... This question on love has been bandied about here many times. Here is the answer as to what love is....... The feeling of emotion we homo sapiens define as love is simply a certain mix of neurotransmitters in our brains, in a way they give is feelings of content and joy and sometimes euphoria. We feel love when somebody is providing what we want. All human emotions are borne of chemicals firing in the brain....... Love, have, envy, jealousy, and anger.
