This is possibly nothing more than a non-answer, but I don't really think that anyone would be happy in a such a situation. My daugther would probably desire his company and so on, but desire isn't happiness. So my initial suspicion would be that she wasn't happy with the relationship. Therefore I would probably ask her some harsh questions that would make her think more clearly. I don't believe you can be truly happy if you have a strong underlying sense of fear. So turned out that she indeed was happy, then I would question whether the criminal really was so dangerous. I think safety is important, but safety derives its importance from the fact that it's essential for happiness. I think this is why we recognize things like compulsive cleanliness as something bad. So to actually answer your question, I would care for her safety exactly because I care for her happiness. If I sensed an eminent threat I might step in and do something without her consent (like make her break up), but how much I would allow myself to interfere would largely be a function of how much I knew about the relationsship. Side: Happiness
Happiness is the basic driving force of humanity. Surely it is better to know happiness for a short amount of time than to be secluded from it by an almost selfish desire for safety. Nothing would really change if everyone preferred safety over happiness, there would be no risk and no pay-off, no freedom to truly do what you want. Both come with a price but only happiness makes that price worth it or at least worth the try. Side: Happiness

Happiness is overrated. The feeling which makes you smile or feel just delighted. I would choose to stay safe, with closed down blinds, turn on some music and enjoy with my achievements so far. Because that's what most live for, most people have dreams and fantasies and desires. A desire to be happy is common. But what could make someone more happier than knowing that his loved ones are safe. And everything what he/she has. Happiness is overrated! Side: Safety
