CreateDebate is a social debate community built around ideas, discussion and democracy.
If this is your first time checking out a debate, here are some quick tips to help get you started:
Arguments with the highest score are displayed first.
Argument replies (both in favor and in opposition) are displayed below the original argument.
To follow along, you may find it helpful to show and hide the replies displayed below each argument.
To vote for an argument, use these icons:
You have the power to cast exactly one vote (either up or down) for each argument.
Once you vote, the icon will become grayed out and the argument's score will change.
Yes, you can change your vote.
Debate scores, side scores and tag scores are automatically calculated by an algorithm that primarily takes argument scores into account.
All scores are updated in real-time.

A world without violence, conflict, inequality, poverty, famine, floods, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, pain, depression, stress, temptation.... A world where we can all live in peace and harmony.
If there is, then prove it. Don't say "spiritual realm". You've never even been there.
The best you have are near death hallucinations. Nothing near any actual proof if it's only near death.
How can you confuse and ruin people's lives like that? If heaven doesn't exist then life HAS to be improved, rather than giving up on making the world truly ideal.
Heaven is a reason to quit, to give up and lose your courage in life.
And the worst part is that you can't even prove it.
Heaven is described in the Bible as streets of gold and that we would have our own place in heaven. Hell is described that its dark, there is torture and fire. There is weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Many people have witnessed heaven and hell because some people clinically died and then they came back and told what they saw.
That was them dying and its possible you could go to heaven or hell and comeback if they resuscitate you.
The Bible is true and God can create the world in six days because He made the world with just words that is one of the powers of God.
Why would I be lying about all of this when I have tested it out myself?
I actually did test my God through prayer and He answered but not right away.
My faith is not that strong as it was when all of the Jesus's disciples saw Him they had really strong faith, but it does say in the Bible bless are those who have not seen me but yet still believe.
Its not the Bible its God who wants people to believe. Do you really think God wants you to go to hell?
Yes you choose to be atheist its was your choice that you made.
Its not a mind controlling games I don't know why you say it. I know it doesn't control my mind. I just think what would Jesus do in any instance.
Well its pretty logical to me that people came back but you think they are probably lying and let me ask you this, why would they lie to you when they saw it?
There is a way to comeback that's if God lets you.
As for mind control, obviously you are not aware of it. You feel that what you believe is good and right, don't you?
You don't want to be wrong, even. It's not even about facts vs truth or anything. You would be offended or hurt if you were wrong.
And what is logical to you is not always logical to others. When 80%+ of the world is religious, it is easy to think you are correct, but the truth is not always popular.
Also, I never said they were lying.
I said they hallucinated. They didn't actually die. The second you're dead, your braincells start to die and decay. That would cause hallucination or the inability to come back to life. It is likely you see strange things, but not anything real.

Also, why would god care if people believed or not, to the point of torturing people forever just because they don't? It's not the same as hating god or sacrificing babies or anything. I just don't think it's real. If your god wishes to change that, then he could show me extraordinary evidence proving he is real beyond a doubt, but that will not happen because it's not real.

I'm not confusing anyone though... I just stated what my ideal world would be, and then srom said that that was basically heaven, and I agreed. Doesn't mean I don't wish the world right now could be like that.
Heaven is a reason to quit, to give up and lose your courage in life.
No, it isn't. You know the whole YOLO thing, yah. There's no reason to stop living life just because there's something better awaiting you. It's a silly reason really. I believe in heaven, and yet I'm working my butt off in school, trying to please my parents, enjoying life with my friends.... the existence of heaven does not change anything.
And the worst part is that you can't even prove it.
It's good you haven't given up on this life, but heaven and pleasing a god seems to be important to some people.
As for the Bible, I don't think you've ever read any books from any other religions, right?
I mean, if you were to experiment a bit and check out some other religions, you might find truth that exceeds the Bible.
You were raised to believe the Bible, but your ancestors worshiped far different gods, right? It was only after war and conquest had spread Christianity that it became extremely popular. It had nothing to do with it being true.
What gods did your ancestors worship? Why would you believe "The Bible" over those? Just because you were raised to believe it? Sheesh. You gotta have standards! Have you even read the entire Bible on your own?
True, I haven't read any other religious works, mostly because they are either in another language and I do not have a translation, or I just don't have access to them.
I'm not really sure what my ancestors worshipped, but most of my family, almost all, is Christian. Even my grandparents.

I don't know what gods my ancestors worshipped. Yes, I was raised to believe in the Bible, but even if I was not, I would have eventually believed in God. It's not like my parents forced me to. They let me choose what I want. I know people who only believe in God because that's how they were raised, and... we are completely different. There's a difference between believing in God because that's just what you were told to do, and actually believing in God. Reading the Bible, praying, etc. I don't know how to explain it, but I know that in the future I'm going to preach the gospel (as well as do other stuff to help the planet and society). No, I haven't read the entire Bible but I am working on it. It is a really long book, not just like some random, fiction novel.
You already know your ancestors didn't worship Yahweh or Jesus. You would have worshiped those gods, or if you had been raised Muslim, you'd worship Allah and be saying the exact same things.
After you read the Bible, why don't you read some other books from other religions? Most are translated into English, I think.
I just think that it would be wise to look at multiple options and evaluate each one, rather than just the first one you were taught when it comes to putting your soul on the line.
If you wish to find the truth, rather than just accept a religion that many people don't believe in and haven't found their way to, then you might want to see why people have found their way to OTHER religions.
There might be lessons that you are missing.
It is up to you thought. Most Christians I know are very close minded.
I don't mind learning about different religions and beliefs. I just never really thought about buying a religious book (other than the Bible) and reading it. Seemed like a lot of work I guess, especially since I still have to finish reading the Bible.
Srom1883, Now why would you respond that way when that wasn't the question? While I agree with you statement, I don't agree with why you stated it here in this argument. You didn't respond to the question!
My ideal world? A bong made out of shrooms, so when I'm done smoking I can eat it, and I would also hope that the bong came with those little mescaline capsules coated in LSD + a free ayawaska drink.
Mine would be a post-scarcity automatonist technocracy, with unfettered capitalism and personal liberties.
This would allow robots to build and maintain order, while still letting people innovate and invent and produce as they wish.
This world is possible within 20 years, if we take the right steps. The technology is nearly ready.
In 1992, internet was just barely developed, certainly not there for the mainstream. In 2012, internet is everywhere, people have cell phones and high technology. In 2032, imagine the world. It will be vastly different.
This world is possible, but only if humanity can work together and love each other and discover the universe as one.
My ideal world is really the late 19th Century and Early 20th century, when the British Empire was at it' height, but there is no racism, or too much violence. Where the common man is able to live out life happily, without having to care about material things. While the upper classesare wealthy but suffer the politics of society.
A want a world where Utopias are everywhere. People have harmony within themselves and nature. Yet gearing towards development and trying something new. I also dream of a transparent world where everyone is open minded and no one is to be judged. Lastly is the equivocation of a world full of societal building.
