What is your prominent emotion?

Which emotion do you experience more than any other emotion? I'm talking about when you are alone, not entertaining freinds or functioning socially. What is the most prevalent emotion you feel?

I just realized I am probably wasting my time...expecting people to be honest and respond, even though we are online and anonymous...people extend their egos online...they don't seem to understand they are anonymous and can answer freely without serious social repercussions. Aren't you curious about what the overall emotional attitude your fellow humans share? If so, please leave an answer and we can all find out together. I'll go first.

My most prevalent feelings are curiosity and puzzlement. I hate to cheapen the word "awe" by claiming I feel it all the time, but some part me always feels a sense of awe and that feeling fluctuates, but it's always there. I am referring to the amazing fact that anything exists at all. You must admit, the fact that anything exists at all is completely amazing, no matter what your scientific or religious beliefs are. Just being... possessing what we call "consciousness" is an enigma.

My other prominent feeling is one of apprehension. I worry about the future, mostly not my own future, but of mankind in general. I see life on this planet taking a downward trend. I know, I know, it's never at any point been on an upward trend for all people in the whole of history, but I see it taking a downward trend for everyone at once.

"but some part me always feels a sense of awe and that feeling fluctuates"

Me too. I was listening to a stream of music on my Ipod just minutes before now and my body and brain were on some kind of emotional, nostalgic, musical trip and the whole time I was drowning in the great sense of awe that had overcome me. It was amazing.

"You must admit, the fact that anything exists at all is completely amazing, no matter what your scientific or religious beliefs are. Just being... possessing what we call "consciousness" is an enigma."

Indeed. I whole-heartedly agree. Not to long ago, I developed a new sense of appreciation for life and all the things we sometimes take for granted.

"I worry about the future, mostly not my own future, but of mankind in general."

I agree with this as well. There are those nights when I'm lying in bed, trying to sleep, but my brain is racing and thinking about our future.

"I see life on this planet taking a downward trend."

I disagree with this. There will always be obstacles to overcome, but I'd say we've done fairly well for ourselves so far. I try to remain optimistic yet, at the same time, realistic about our future on this planet. All things considered, (our past, the problems we've overcome, the feats we've achieved) I believe we have no where to go but up.

Calm. Peaceful. Aloof. Zen. Same emotion, different words. I would like to be more spontaneous and out-going. But I'm working around to it.
