Christmas tree is a spiritual symbol for Christmas. This Christmas tree symbolizes the hand pointing toward the heavens. The evergreens were thought to represent the ever-burning fire of life. Plus the smell of them is wonderful; it's fresh, sweet of pine, and the smell of spiritual of Christmas. Fake tree is different, it doesn't have any smell, any touching feelings, or even the Christmas spirits. like other comments above, the taste is different if we trying to replace the real tree with the tree can. You sound like your childhood was magical! So very Norman Rockwell. My childhood was the opposite, which is why I love real trees now; when I was a kid, my mom would string up garland in the shape of a Christmas tree on the wall. It was very disappointing because all my friends had real trees. When I was finally old enough to buy my own tree at 20, when I came back from Vietnam, I bought an 8 ft tree that barely fit into my tiny apartment...I haven't settled for anything less since! It is not a matter of being poor or caring about the environment, but it is a matter of being a penny pincher, I spend my money the most efficient and effective to avoid all waste. Buying a real Christmas tree is a waste based on its longevity to price relative to a fake tree. I even thought about going cheaper either a cardboard tree or a peanuts Christmas tree. Side: Fake

Real trees are good if you don't mind the risk of burning your house down. The USFA has released the following stats: "Christmas trees account for 240 fires annually, resulting in 13 deaths and more than $16.7 million in property damage". By the way, a plastic tree is not fake, it is imitation. Fake means it is set up to fool people into believing it's real. Side: Imitation not Fake
