You’re a good guy Andy no one has any truck with you , I was here in the early days and I thought the site was excellent but over the years it went downhill rapidly

I think it got to a stage that everyone ended up knocking 8 bells out of each other as there was zero moderation

You are to be applauded for putting up the site and seriously if it’s costing you 300 a month that’s money you could spend on you and your family which would surely bring you more joy than this .

No one could possibly blame you for pulling the plug. I'll miss it terribly but I would completely understand.

I do have one question; Admittedly I don't know what I'm talking about here, I've never had any website - period, but if I had a business and I wasn't in the black I might consider trying to incorporate another revenue stream and I'm wondering if there would be any possibility of adding a game site. I personally like backgammon which it's pretty popular but you probably know far better than I do what type of games might be better than others. I'm guessing the software for that would be in the thousands with no guarantee of a return. I wish I could be more helpful.

I want to thank you for getting rid of the evil that polluted your site, that was the right thing to do. I just wish doing so could have had the opposite effect.

I believe that a lot of good people found this site and tried to become part of the community here but were appalled at the behavior of the bad actors and left, essentially chased away by what I will refer to as the evil 3 (although I know there were others).

Well, it is unfortunate that everyone feels that way. I did my best to run the site for 10 years. I gave it my all for the first six or so. Then everyone started complaining about this member or that member. I ran them off, but they came back and id horrific things to the site which I had to spend thousands of dollars to fix/clean/prevent.

I don't feel that way Andy. But whoever is doing the spamming is outright making the site unusable.

Another thing you have to remember is that false reports are one of the tools of the trade for trolls. They flag everything a particular user does or says deliberately in order to have them banned from a particular platform. And of course, they try to persuade others to do the same thing. This is just part of the behaviour of trolls.

Number one is you have to stop whoever is doing the spamming because they are determined to keep hijacking the site and turning it into an advertising board for Asian prostitutes and CBD cream. Your best and most cost-effective chance of achieving that is by linking accounts to a phone number. People can change IP address all day, but phone numbers are more difficult -- or at least more expensive -- to keep changing.

hey you. i appreciate what you've given with so little in return. can't imagine myself in your shoes, tbh id have pulled the money plug long ago. standing in my own shoes i can only say im glad you haven't. that's selfish. i can't even explain it completely. but thru thick n thin CD has been my home. ive been able to come back here for years. that's grounding. maybe that says something about my foundations, haha. but tho id be sad to see it go, id get it. take care of urself first, but know there's at least still one being that's grateful to call CD home. for whatever difference that might make; i know i don't have anything substantive to provide in terms of support, so this is just a lot of sentiment in the end. heartfelt sentiment, but still just that.

What I said wasn’t a feeling. It was an observation. I fixed broken businesses for a living. The first step in fixing a broken business, is to recognize that it’s broken. By any measure, yours is.

Look. It’s hard to admit. This is your baby. You brought it into existence. Nobody wants to hear that their business is broken.

It’s entirely fixable though. You just have to find the right guy, and listen to him.

In the business world there are people who happen to find themselves at the right place, and at the right time. They truly know nothing about business, but riding a tide is easy. We all know people like that.. Their view of themselves is tied to their bank accounts.. Real businessmen know business is hard. Execution is hard. Riding a wave is easy.

But, the tide eventually does go out.

We happen to be customers of a failing business. The site needs painting, and the rail needs fixing.. But, the owners don't come around any more..

I don't know HOW to run a website, but I know how NOT to run one..

That wouldn't be the advice I'd give.. The sole reason I came here and stay here is because of the LACK of moderation.. I HATE the Jew hater, but I'd NEVER censor him, or block him, or moderate him in any way..

Instead of that, I'd recommend security software that keeps terrorists and spammers OFF the site from the get go. As I said above, I have NO IDEA how to write such code, but I DO KNOW that such code can be written. It'll PROTECT this site and bring it back to its glory days..
