What's so important about being right?!

Honestly, I mean the answer to many questions is because " Humans have an inquisitive nature and like to be right and..."

But why do humans want to be right all the time, and why is it so shameful to be proven wrong?

I have an empirical understading of this subject.

As far as I know, every human being knows that it's good to be conscious of what's true... Let's say that someone tells that you ought to run marathon or you will necesarilly catch a deadly disease. Unless this information is true, it's obviously bad to react according to it for the reasons given. It might be good to run a marathon, but it's obviously bad to run solely due to a false premise.

My empirical understanding is that you can't find any situation where it isn't good to be aware of what's true in the long run. It's always wrong to react in discordance with reality; it's always bad. If this proposition is true, then it follows directly that it's important to be. It's good to be conscious aware of what's true since it ensures you that you will always react accordingly to what's real. It's stupid to act in discordance with what's real.

So my argument boils down to this: If it's good to be aware of what's true, then it's important to be right.

I find it interesting as well interesting. And proving someone wrong would get them insulted. As if they would try to reach higher grounds in society. Especially in teenager years. When one tries to reach individuality. being unique, as it would make him/her independent and having his/her own mind. So everyone would wan't to be right, and expect to hear positive responses backwards. - Being right isn't important, it's a desire for attention mostly. I wouldn't say that one person would wan't to be right for himself. It would be desirable to be excepted in a community of their choice e.g. School, College, University, Job etc.

What's so important about being proven wrong? I don't think it's that they don't want to be proven wrong. I think it's just that they assume that they are right. Getting proven wrong isn't even on their mind.

People feel in control when they are right often times. ;)

I once thought I was wrong but it turns out I was mistaken ;)

Simple.

If I am wrong, it causes a mass chain of cause and effects. The most notorious one would be if I am wrong, people will consider me less intelligent. Its a human's goal to be known in the world/society.

Its satisfying to be right because you obtain a sense of empowerment (which ultimately varies.) Its also human to argue with someone to disagree with you so you can maintain that satisfaction of being "correct" whether your clearly right or downright incorrect.

Its all about satisfaction....

Why I think it is important to be right because being wrong is proving how much you ability is and what kind of person you are. You would rather want to be right then wrong because if your wrong lets just say you lose but if you win you achieve a lot like honesty and and a person who cares about themselves and their personality
