What's your theory?

What's your theory of the origin of life? Assuming, you're one of the ones that doesn't believe it's a result of God and what the bible claims. Just what do you believe started all this? Is there a specific person you follow? Specific theory? Maybe even your own theory from imagination?

Scientists have been able to synthesize amino acids under the conditions of ancient earth for awhile and according to scientists at Manchester University, they were able to synthesize the building blocks of RNA. Knowing that amino acids and RNA could have formed in the conditions of ancient earth, it is quite reasonable to see how a primitive organism could have been created.

Isn't it wonderful what God has done and how many years it's taken science to catch up with?

It is absolutely wonderful and quite a shame that not everybody understands this. :)

We understand it. And we reject it. Because it's nonsense.

I don't care.

Obviously I'd like to know, but I'm not going to stress about it. I know that there were molecules floating out there that reacted with each other and all that, but where did those molecules come from? Was it spontaneous? Maybe. I really don't think it makes a difference.

What makes a difference is what science can be applied to the way we live today. So how the molecules react is important for application, but otherwise I don't need to know.

All that matters to me is making the best of the here and now.

My theory involves science and God. God set everything in motion and just let things take their course. He only intervened when he had to.

The answer. How arrogant do you have to be to think you know the answer to life?

The truth is, no origin we could possibly muster is the absolute truth, ever.

It's not that simple. It's never that simple.

Side: Reality is not simple

Things move from simplicity to complexity over a extremely large amount of time.

some shit was able to get combined at the right moment.

what's my theory though? IDK... we're lucky as fuck to be here.

eh, i don't really believe that reality is as simple as we try to make it out to be. God... Accident... it's all just real simple explanations.

You people have never really thought about this stuff more? Crikes.

I do think the God theory is way simple. Almost too simple because once you believe God created it all, you just stop in your tracks and flash forward past the subject. I mean, I get it; a lot of people just-don't-care how we got here and they don't want to waste their thoughts trying to figure it out, so it's easier to accept something and get on with your life. But me.... I... have too much time on my hands. :-)

Anyhow, I came up with an idea... not really for our existence or nada. Just lemme try and explain. I think, overall, life is not that simple (as listed above) but also not as complicated as we humans lead ourselves to believe. As humans, we MAKE everything complicated. Seriously. Think about it. One of my arguments for this is the power of healing. For instance, we all know the body is amazing and can heal itself from almost anything, yet, once you get certain things, like flukes and parasites, leading to cancer, you're somewhat doomed. To prove we have more control of ourselves, the invention of radiation therapy and chemotherapy and every drug in the universe comes to existence saying "these'll fix you right up." However, there's another option when your health starts to dwindle downhill, and it's just simple nutrition and what the world considers "alternative" medicine/therapy/etc. When really, this alternative stuff is more natural to life than radiation and all the drugs invented up in a laboratory. (The only difference is most people prefer the drugs because they're considered the "fast" way, even though they may only do one true thing, and one thing only: extend your life for a couple years, if at all. And alternative medicine takes some serious will power and patience and brains, even on your own behalf).

Because my above example, I feel I've proved, in one perspective, how humans make things complicated, and that we've continued to go as far to make a lot more things complicated. So, I'm more like, why isn't anyone looking in the middle of everything? If God is white, and Life from random caos is black, then where's all the grey matter? Or is the grey matter all the complications? I dunno, like I said, I have too much time on my hands and totally throwing a ton of my thoughts out there for now... :-)

I know this is off topic, but I just want to say that alternative medicine is mostly nonsense. If it had any basis in reality, legitimate medical science would assimilate it.

You say it's more natural -- I see this all the time on CreateDebate -- people associating "natural" with "good." This is bad logic.

Stick to real doctors.

But there is something to be said for alternative medicines Jess. It's a big wide world out there and many lesser nations and places do not have access to the types of drugs we use daily...even down to the lowly vitamin! In these places and small nations alternative medicine is all they have and they have developed many alternatives to regular medicine in order to get and stay well...even down to the lowly poultice! Many plants have medicinal properties and they have, more or less, perfected their use. I don't think it's nonsense at all and even modern medicine doesn't quite think so.

Just at the minute I happen to be going into a thing called "Prolo-Therapy" which are series' of sugar based injections for different muscle groups over my entire back. It is believed that this sugar based injection therapy heals...I mean actually heals the sites into which they are injected! I don't know what else is in those shots but they are basically sugar. I'll let you know how it goes if I can get permission from Worker's Comp. to receive this type of therapy. The treatment is given by Medical Doctor's and not Witch Doctors, LOL!!!

You know what they call alternative medicine that works? Medicine

Like you say people associate alternative medicine with being natural. Most medicines came from nature and now we have ways of producing them to make them more effective and efficient. Take aspirin for example. People have been using willow leaves and willow bark for medicinal purposes for thousands of years. Turns out it contains salicylic acid which is the precursor to aspirin. A synthetic version called acetylsalicylic acid was created that causes less digestive upset than pure salicylic acid. Acetylsalicylic acid is aspirin.

Alternative medicine is by definition remedies that the general medical community has decided are not effective. If a natural remedy is found, it is improved and entered into the category of 'medicine.'
