What's the best overall beach on the east coast?

I have been to beaches on the east coast between New Jersey to North Carolina. There are so many factors to consider when picking an overall awesome beach. Here are a few: Nightlife: Best Night Life has got to be Dewey Beach in Delaware. Such a great time and great people. Seclusion: If that is what your into, Ocracoke Island, NC is one to definitely check out. Drive cars on the beach and might not see people all day long. Affordability: Outerbanks lends to big houses with multiple amenities without the huge price tag. Oh and who can forget the open container law! Great Beach and Waves: Minus the fact you might have to deal with some real cheese balls, NJ beaches are wide and long and the waves are awesome. I have also heard great things about Newport, RI, The Cape, SC beaches and Florida to name a few. But where my heart lies and where I have had the most fun - the vote has to go to Dewey Beach - 'Till Death Dewey Party!
Used to be a bar in DC (maybe Abbey Road or Beowulf?) that would video the party all weekend long in Dewey and then show the video in DC on Wed nights. All the house in Dewey are rented out to bartenders from DC, or used to. So the best parties were midweek. I would suggest Duck for seclusion and Panama City for best physical beach. Love the soft white sand on the Gulf, but does that count as east coast? Side: Life's a Beach
The Jersey Shore has the greatest beaches in the country. :) Well, maybe I'm biased, but I really love New Jersey beaches. Not to mention, we also have proximity to NYC, which is really easy to get to by train, car, bus, taxi, or even ferry. There are also amazing restaurants all over the place and boardwalks in multiple towns. :D Side: The Jersey Shore
