When Does Life Begin?

Before one can ponder the point at which life begins, first one must determine what qualifies as life. I do not fully accept the existence of such a thing as birthing, much less believe it to be any more important than conception: there can be conception without birthing, but without conception, there can be no birthing. The foetus is alive prior to birthing. Why is it that we view birthing as being of such import? Because it is the first time that the human is seen to exist outside of its mother? That is a rather sensory-oriented position, too much so for a lifelong solipsist like myself.

Life is existence. Conception gives existence, birth doesn't.

YEs at conception but im pro choice so abortiojn is cool with me evn though it would not be my first choice.

yeah i would say biological life starts at conception but legal life starts at birth. Abortion is not the morally correct choice but it definitely should be legal.

I see it as the possibility of life. When someone is conceived they have the cahnce of gaining life. It doesn't matter whether they can think or not yet.

Side: At Conception

At conception, a religious person would probably choose this side too, with their belief in souls. But if you look at life in a scientific sense, life is: M Movement All living things move, even plants

R Respiration Getting energy from food

S Sensitivity Detecting changes in the surroundings

G Growth All living things grow

R Reproduction Making more living things of the same type

E Excretion Getting rid of waste

N Nutrition Taking in and using food

A fetus does all that

LIFE BEGINS AT THE PRODUCTION OF THE SPERM WHICH WILL PRODUCE THE FATHER WHO WILL PRODUCE THE SPERM WHICH WILL PRODUCE THE CHILD, PRAISE JESUS

Side: At Conception

Life begins at conception, I am also pro choice and I don't like abortion and wouldn't consider it except possibly if I was raped, but even then It wouldnt be an easy choice. I do think that the government should stay out of it altogether. However I understand the religious right few and thier concern and it is a legitimate one, the left doest seem to even consider the other sides view most of the time. Another good thing to consider is if a women is pregnant (and she wants and loves her unborn child) and she is attacked and the child is killed in the incident but the woman lives. I think the attacker should be charged with the child's death. If abortion is legal because the embryo is not "alive" and therefor can be "gotten rid of" then prosecuting the attacker for murder would not be possible. If it was decided that an embryo was alive starting from conception but gave women the option to kill it if they so decided, all party's could be mostly justified. The Christians could point at a woman getting an abortion and say you are a killer (and they would be right) a women could get an abortion for whatever reason she wanted without fear of being prosecuted and the person who kills a wanted baby would be punished for it.

At the birth of life. Life as we know began with the first reproductive things on this planet and hasn't stopped since.

How do you know the baby will still be alive in the mother body? When you alive than it is counted life begins

Life begins when a baby is born because the parents have decided to have that baby. Parents need to make sure they are ready to be able to give this baby a good life. There are 7.7 billion people on earth right now. In 1985 there were 4.8 billion, 1960 there were 3 billion, and 1900 there were 1.6 billion. The population is getting out of control and because of it life is harder for most people... less jobs, more expensive, more pollution, more crime, etc. When bad parents who aren't ready or aren't in a financial position to take care of a kid have kids it breeds bad seeds in this world. I would rather see a world with more high quality people, but less overall people. So therefore not every fetus should get to be born. It may seem immoral, but abortion can serve a greater good.
