When voting, do you vote for self, or for country?

Make Your Voice Heard

When you vote for the candidate of your choice, do you vote for what's best for you, or what's best for the country? Give your reason(s).

I vote for what's in the best interest for me and my family, which would in turn, also be in the best interest of the country if they'd only pull their heads out of their @$$es. How could I vote for country alone, when what's left of it has been dumbed-down to the point of voting Obama in not once, but twice? Screw that, those voters obviously don't know what's best for anyone, no less their country.

Side: I'm all about me

I vote for my best interests, because my best interests are the country's best interests. There is no greater cause than me. Yes, altruism is alive and well.

You're a rich millionaire and you waste your time on this website? You only ever talk about supporting millionaires on here.

Ah, a little person speaks up; how cute. Come closer so that I may step on you............... closer still....................SQUISH! ........ I love the feel of little people under my feet in the morning; it is the feeling of victory, of exhilaration! More, I need more! Next?

Honestly, when it gets down to the nitty gritty, one can only speak for themselves, because it's one's own emotions that make the decision.

I vote for my best interest by virtue of what the broader public has done. He or she also the one I believe because of his or her characteristics and behavior

That's what they want you to think

Side: My country first

I don't vote. My vote is statistically insignificant. Why waste my time?

You should be paying me for bringing the stalkers to your debates :)

All I have to do is post on anyone's debate and the insecure stalkers will descend on the argument like a flock of dysfunctional groupies.

Side: My country first

I hope this turns into you stalking people just like when you started heavily downvoting people after proclaiming that downvotes are secret agreements. I really hope you become a dysfunctional groupie.

Side: My country first

I called him out on that in a private chat and he declared that he would follow me and down vote as many of my posts as he could.

His next public response was to call me a stalker.

I truly haven't found someone who is so skilled in the arts of projection.

I would say the people who vote for Democrats are the perfect example of people who vote purely for self. They as always want the ability to have their cake and eat it too.

A few examples......

How about people taking out huge College loans they will never pay back? Young people will vote for Democrats who pander to them by promising free College! Who pays for that free College? THE MIDDLE CLASS AS ALWAYS while our nation goes bankrupt!.

How about people who buy homes or cars or cell phones or vacations they can not afford, and then on the first rainy day when they get laid off from their job, they rush down to live off tax payers. The majority of these people vote for self and the politicians who will bail out their irresponsibility of buying things they can not afford.

Democrats were telling banks, before the recession, to give out home loans to bad credit risk people! How irresponsible is that purely to buy votes.

What ever happened to saving money while you work for that rainy day? How about doing the responsible thing. How about going without all those things and saving money before buying that nice home, or nice cars, or nice cell phones, etc. etc.

Nah, todays culture says buy it now, and if you can't pay for it, DEMAND that taxpayers bail out your irresponsibility of buying things you can not afford!.

Who are people thinking of when they choose to have promiscous sex? Are they thinking of the nation's tax payers who so often are forced to pay for the pregnancy, or pay for the abortion? Democrats say IT'S NO ONE''S FAULT. Democrats say tax payers should pay for the pregnancy, they say pay for the abortion.

The father abandons his child and the mother and child rush down to social services where tax payers foot the bill. Sound familiar?

We know people are voting for self. They vote for politicians who pander to their irresponsible lifestyles.

Can I get a down vote too?

I think you're right about democrats; that's why they bribe their voters with free stuff.

You sure to seem to hate the idea of people legitimacy holding differing opinions.

Side: I'm all about me

You're right! They're probably trying to promise to make the people's lives better just so they can get in to office and enact their agenda of trying to make the people's lives better! How devious.

Side: I'm all about me

You know, the fact that you can only ever talk about Democrats is proof that your side is a failure. You never say "my side does X the best" because you can't. All you ever say is "that side is messing everything up". This debate is about what you vote for, and all you did is point out what everyone else votes for. It's hilarious.

I'm pretty sure the term for that is card-stacking? Is that what you are trying to say or am I not understanding you?

Side: My country first

When you can't defend your own opinions, then chances are you don't have opinions worth defending.

Not that you'll figure that one out.

So, what you're saying is, if an opinion isn't defensive, it must be offensive?

Side: I'm all about me

As an independent voter I vote for the man I feel can best help out country at the present time, and in light of the present world circumstances.

I am not aligned with any particular political party. I have voted both Republican and Democrat in the past. I have also never voted a straight ticket.

Except for one time when I went straight Democrat in protest to W Bush getting us into an unjustified war in Iraq.

Side: My country first

Both reasons. Choose the all around best choice, not just the one who makes my life better and then everyone else can go to hell. That's bogus.

Side: My country first

Seriously this couldn't be more true. The fact that I can't make a simple transaction online in my own home says more about the country than it does about me.

Voting for Bernie Sanders simply because your a college student and you want free college is one of the most selfish and stupidest reasons to vote for someone. Instead of looking at what only benefits you, you need to look at who has the best policies that allows individuals to pursue life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, which is what this country is all about.

Side: My country first

I believe that what is best for my country is what's best for me .
