CreateDebate is a social debate community built around ideas, discussion and democracy.
If this is your first time checking out a debate, here are some quick tips to help get you started:
Arguments with the highest score are displayed first.
Argument replies (both in favor and in opposition) are displayed below the original argument.
To follow along, you may find it helpful to show and hide the replies displayed below each argument.
To vote for an argument, use these icons:
You have the power to cast exactly one vote (either up or down) for each argument.
Once you vote, the icon will become grayed out and the argument's score will change.
Yes, you can change your vote.
Debate scores, side scores and tag scores are automatically calculated by an algorithm that primarily takes argument scores into account.
All scores are updated in real-time.
To learn more about the CreateDebate scoring system, check out the FAQ.
When you are ready to voice your opinion, use the Add Argument button to create an argument.
If you would like to address an existing argument, use the Support and Dispute link within that argument to create a new reply.
I almost didn't bother clicking the link, but I did and the stupidity far outweighed anything I imagined.
God saved a handful of people by making them buy new shoes and spill shit on their shirts.
You'd think an omnipotent God would have realized he'd get more bang for his magic buck by just killing the hijackers. I mean come on, at one point he killed everybody on the planet with the exception of a few dipshits on a boat...what's 19 more assclowns worshipping the wrong god?
I feel like sending an e-mail to the person who wrote that blog:
"When people think of what their "god" creates they think of sunshine, puppies, shit like that... when a bomb kills a bunch of children or some buildings get blown up they say; "God works in mysterious ways." How is that mysterious..!? That's like the least ambiguous behaviour since the beginning of time." - Jim Jefferies
Jesus Christ! Give the man a break, would ya? You don't know him. You don't know what he goes through daily. It's a pretty big job being God, don't ya know? Geesh! Maybe he needed to sleep in, maybe he was hungover, who knows? He's only human you know.... wait...
"And when the WTC and Pentagon buildings went down, my God picked up almost 3,500 of His children and carried them to their home for all eternity. He also sat down and cried that 19 of His children could have so much hate in their hearts, that they did not choose him, but another god that doesn't exist, and now they are lost forever."
there is no god... all religion is, is just false hope for humanity. (I'm pretty sure nothings going to change on earth but if something does then it won't be good... I think wall-e might happen or maybe I'm hoping it will haha like Elysium which I like to think is the grown up/ realistic version of it {did not watch} haha brackets in brackets)
God creates evil. God whines about said evil. God is a bigger drama queen than me multiplied 1000000000000000000000000000 times over. God did not care about the people who suffered, and He does not today. I want to believe, but my descent into unbelief continues.
God is pure goodness. Anyone who shys away from God chooses estrangement from pure goodness and places themselves in the vicinity of " lack of enlightment" or " darkness ". Very good people die young all the time, so its not about living to a fine old age that is the purpose of our existence. What if it is our soul that is the center of importance? Our soul being infinite? What evil befalls us by no free will choice of our own, by victimhood , etc. does not blemish our soul but only the doer of evil. We will all die one day because that is natural. Its how we live moment to moment that is our responsibility.
Prove it. Prove any of it all. (Except that we all die; that I agree with.)
There is no God. There is no pure goodness. There is no enlightenment. There is no purpose. There is no soul. There is no evil. There is no free will.
These are all subjective concepts constructed by human beings lacking any foundation in objective reality, and even in direct contradiction and denial of such reality.
"Aristotle said so" is not proof. Watch, I can reference an old dead guy too!
Epicurus: "Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?"
we are made in the image of God in that we have free will to choose and create the way we live our life, if wise, we choose our own ways to obey Gods will, if we don't choose to obey Gods will , evil is the outcome. God does not create evil, we do by our own will of disobedience. Evil is the absence of Gods will.
I have gotten in trouble too. Like this happened: My mom said that the Mexican dude named Jesus was like a son to her, and I was like "if Jesus is your Son, does that make you the Mother of God", and she was not amused. Humor, some people have none. ;)
The god of this system and of the whole world is responsible for all the evil''
1 JOHN 5 VERSE 19'' THE WHOLE WORLD IS LYING IN THE HANDS OF THE WICKED ONE SATAN THE DEVIL.
The one true god is not responsible for that terrible act of hate and lack of concern nor respect for human life, Satan and those under his control who have deep hatred who seek only to destroy is.
JAMES CHAPTER 1 VERSE 13'' WHEN UNDER TRIALS LET NO ONE SAY 'I AM BEING TRIED BY GOD FOR WITH EVIL THINGS GOD CANNOT BE TRIED, NOR DOES HE HIMSELF TRY ANYONE''
haha wow reading all these comments/ arguments is kind of depressing especially for those who believe there is a god... if there is then THOR should come down to say "hi" along with LOKI.
Not true at all. Between 1882 and 1930, 82% of all lynchings in the US South had black victims. Even in the worst period of our history in that regard, in the worst region of our country in that regard, black people were not the only ones being lynched.
Blacks were the main target, there is no doubt of that, but they were not the exclusive target by any means.
9/11 is the topic of the overall debate, but really, neither 9/11 or the early 1900s are particularly relevant to the tangent we've gone onto. Why are we debating this again?
I could go digging if needbe, and don't mind, but seeing as you're the one claiming that all lynch victims were black, isn't the burden of proof for that claim on you?
Original source: Stewart E. Tolnay and E.M. Beck, A Festival of Violence: An Analysis of Southern Lynchings, 1882-1930.
Urbana and Chicago: University of Illinois Press, 1992.
There are "2805 [documented] victims of lynch mobs killed between 1882 and 1930 in ten southern states. Although mobs murdered almost 300 white men and women, the vast majorityóalmost 2,500óof lynch victims were African-American. Of these black victims, 94 percent died in the hands of white lynch mobs. The scale of this carnage means that, on the average, a black man, woman, or child was murdered nearly once a week, every week, between 1882 and 1930 by a hate-driven white mob"
Now, mind you, most white lynch victims were black sympathizers and were targeted because of this. But I myself am a black sympathizer, and I have black ancestors as well, so I'd still fit the bill either way :P
