Which 2008 Olympic Sport is the Most Awesome

Check out the graphical analysis!

The program for the Beijing 2008 Games is quite similar to that of the Athens Games held in 2004. The 2008 Olympics will see the return of 28 sports, and will hold 302 events (165 men’s events, 127 women’s events, and 10 mixed events). Which 2008 sport is the most awesome? I've done my best to break down the sports below to help you decide!

I love watching taekwondo and judo. Seeing real people fighting as if they were in a martial arts movie is impressive. To truly compete, the athletes need not only the agility and endurance here, but a combination of all the other characteristics, especially speed, flexibility, and coordination. Where else can you see someone kicked in the face in the Olympics?

Gymnastics has always been one of my favorite competitions since it requires so many disciplines and so much focus. There is very little (endurance & teamwork) one doesn't need to have in this competition. Judging by what one must have in order to compete effectively, it's gymnastics for me.

I agree! Gymnastics is my favorite. It is always fun to watch.. and is one of the few sports where the athletes are so long (at least for women)! Think of it.. some are lik 15!

Rowing is definitely the hardest, but you can only understand that once you've actually raced in a shell.

8 people with perfect balance despite height and weight differences, and wind possibly tipping the boat to one side. Equal power on both sides to keep the boat moving relatively straight with the help of a coxswain. Perform the same motion approximately 220 times in a row, in perfect unison, despite fluxuating rate of the team. So you basically can't drift mentally, you have to stay focused on the motion of the guys in front of you. Extreme fatigue, as it is, not only, a full body (legs, back, arms) exertion, but is approximately 6 minutes in length. Runners must only worry about their legs in a mile race while rowers have to handle their entire muscle structure coming into use.

Very well put. I'm glad to see crew getting some respect here.

The Vikings made their slaves do "crew."

Beach Volleyball will always hold a special place in my heart. Probably one of the only sports where the women's event is more popular than the men's.

Water Polo. Its the most agressive and they have the coolest camera angles ever.

I would say wrestling. Perhaps the only downside to it in the Olympics is how good every competitor is. That means almost every match is a close one. With the exception of team work I would think it requires every one of the listed qualities in spades.

I would have to say Taekwondo. The endurance needed for that sport is amazing. Its also very fun to watch. I also have peeps competing in that sport so I'm kinda bias. Go team USA and go Lopez family

I think the most awesome is the triathlon. The combination of speed and strength (AH) (and endurance) that is required to be able to do all three events is amazing.

The problem with the Triathlon is that its not really that exciting to watch because the drama unfolds over a long period. The ending, though, can be very exciting.

Me neither. Crew is amazing to watch. Aesthetically, the boats on the water provide beautiful symmetry. My brother rows and I love watching his team compete. It's a very taxing sport that demands respect.

Soccer: incorporates all of "A" through "H".

But really, the best and most exciting events of the Olympics are the pure track and field events.
