Which country is better?

We haven't had one of these debates for a while, so I thought I would start it up again.

Britain has a better history.

Yeah getting defeated by your colonies does make entertaining history.

At least we had colonies. And we made sure that we succeeded in retaining the ones worth keeping.

The best country is whatever country I happen to be in at the time, so it shifts not just between the two countries listed here, but any country in the world I am in.

Some say that this is because I have an uncanny knack for being in the superior country; others claim that this fact is due to my intense awesomeness. I can't comment on this, it is for you to decide.

i've never been to Britain before but it seems like a nice place. I do live in America and I can say that there are a lot of dumbasse here, we vote for idiots, and our intelligence is going down dramatically.

Side: Great Britain

We actually have our own culture and languages while America is pretty much just a patch work of copied cultures with little orginality or uniquity.

Side: Great Britain

I live in Britain and I love it. Never been to America so I can't really judge it. It looks nice but I still prefer Britain.

Side: Great Britain
1 point

The history, the contributions, and of course the fact that it has its own culture, language, traditions. It isn't a total melting pot, though unfortunately it seems to be becoming just that.

Free health care for all is one big advantage of Britain over the USA and I can ask for cider and get a decent alcoholic drink in Britain instead of Apple Juice

Side: Great Britain

The last time Britain was invaded successively was in 1066 that was long before the USA was even created. I'm Canadian but I must say I support Britain.

I've never been to Britain but from what I've seen on TV it looks like it is overcast everyday. Why is Britain so cloudy?

I've never been to America, but from what I've seen on TV it looks like they get tornadoes and earthquakes everyday.

Why is the USA so prone to natural disasters?

And extreme gun violence, and racism, and prejudism, and terrible poverty in places. E.t.c. List goes on. I could list some stereotypes but people would complain " we're not all like that!"

I prefer Britain, because despite what you have all been brainwashed to think, it is a land far, far freer than the USA. With it's constant surveillance and constant paranoia about other countries and religions. It's not all bad, no place is. And I am sure it has good people. But in my opinion I would say Britain is better. And let's not have " well our country invented the..." type thing, because it really is very unclear in about 90- percent of things who really got there. You say Britain invented the camera, but the French in actual fact had a more basic way of taking photographs, the British just improved it. The Jet engine was originally German too. They also say that Britain invented the train. But it is a cross between the British, French and Germans who were all working on it and stealing ideas from each other about the steam powered engine. Same with the internal combustion engine. The list goes on.

Good question. But a question to my question doesn't answer my question, I seriously wanted to know whether or not Britain is cloudy most of the time.

Side: United States of America

We have some faults on our major cities and our air pollution causes drastic weather effects.

Side: Great Britain
1 point

It's sunny today :)

But the amount of rain we get means that we have no deserts, and the countryside is really green in summer. We don't get hurricanes like you do in America, so I prefer our weather.

Side: Great Britain
GuitarGuy(6096) Disputed

We probably have more countryside than you since the UK is about the size of Texas. The West has deserts but the East doesn't. America has a little bit of everything when it comes to landscapes. What's wrong with that?

The weather where Srom and Dana live is almost exactly the same as the UK.

Seriously, when I seen this debate on the home page, I knew who it was because it is been rehashed many times by the same person.

Not annoying, just repetitive. This site is really just repeats itself over and over.

I'd choose the US because it's so big that you can't even miss it on the globe ... unless you're looking for somewhere specific ...

"I'd choose the US because it's so big that you can't even miss it on the globe ... unless you're looking for somewhere specific ..."

Of course, you Americans do like to print your maps with your country right in the centre just so your citizens "don't miss it".

Music - America

Weather - America

Language - Britain (british accents RULE!!! )

Movies - absolutely America

Food - Tea is way better than McDonald's and it's also Vegan, so Britain.

Clothes - Seriously, both suck. There is no point in giving any of these countries points for fashion, because these two places are probably one of the WORST places to shop in. -1 for both.

2-1 to America, so .. Sorry Britain

Hold the phone! You said Britain wins on food?

America certainly has no weapons in a war about food, but all of Britain's weapons are defective, that is to say it's absolutely terrible. How bad must your food taste, that adding vinegar is a good thing?

And then again for the fashion. Britain is one of the fashion capitals of the world, they are way up their on posh designs. You ever heard of this Rimmel thing? "Get the London look", that's their slogan.

As for the music I guess I don't like British Rock bands, but I do know that everyone else does and everyone also HATES (with a passion) American singers, because they usually are shallow.

Movies, gotta agree with you.

Weather, every where is really going to hell so I guess it doesn't matter.

Music - I'd say America and Britain are pretty equal both have given great music to the world. 1 point each

Weather - I'd give that to America due to its size and geography and I like hot sunny weather so California or Arizona would give me what I want!! 1 point America

Language - I have to give that to Britain but that's probably because its the spelling and pronunciation I'm used to. 1 point Britain

Movies - A bit of a tricky one America churns out more movies than the UK not all of them good but when they are on form they are awesome but British movies when good are equally awesome. 1 point each

Food - both are equally good or bad depending on were or what your eating. 1 point each

Clothes - I like American and British clothes but Britain probably scrapes this one because the clothes are more versatile, I find British clothes work for both formal and casual whereas American clothes I like are more casual. America also loses out for introducing jeans that hang halfway down your arse even with a belt on, thanks for that. 1 point Britain

So for me using your criteria Britain just wins this

Well of course U.S.A. Because the US has way more land then great Britain dose. So we can have more options of use of our time. And we are free and united country. Beside we are united and we all fight as one we stand together as one. Boy I love the U.S.A.

"Well of course U.S.A. Because the US has way more land then great Britain dose."

What does size have to do with the quality of a country?

"So we can have more options of use of our time."

Now, I'm confused. Just because you have a larger landmass means that you have more things to do with your time?

"And we are free and united country."

Britain is a free and united country.

"And we are free and united country."

You're clearly not united on issues such as abortion, gay marriage, gun laws, drugs and many other subjects.

You should have a better chance due to just shear volume of people but that does not seem to be helping much at the moment (you've probably guessed I only posted this to even the sides up!!)
