"There's no history better for anywhere , it all starts up naive then ends up dirty ."
Can you elaborate on this, I have difficulty understanding what your point is.
"And tell me how is it better to get your ass kicked by your colony ?"
Could you explain what sort of history you've been learning, because from the sources I've seen the American War of Independence was fought by American rebels (1/3 of the population of the colonies), the French and Spanish Empires. Many historians will tell you that the war would not have been won without French or Spanish involvement.
Thus, I find it rather odd that you credit the U.S with the victory of the war. If we're going to debate on how great military powers are defeated by tiny nations, maybe one of us should bring up Vietnam.
My point isn't the war , it's about how ugly the history was .
There is absolutely no history starts and ends in a fine way , for instance you started a group with nothing then you work hard and become stronger then eventually you'll need to expand by all means , here you'll see the problem , if someone is in your way during the expedition you'll definitely drive them out , and to think you want to avoid more trouble you'll probably just wipe them all out and that's where it starts to go down .
And I chose them simply because their lands is to hard to miss on the map also if you look at my profile you'll notice I'm Taiwanese not American , I live on a small island which is not the actual size you found on the globe .(right next to china)
This small island I'm living was once colonized by Japanese , Hollander and Spanish , and they end up tailing back to their lands , yes I hate Americans but they aided us in the past and now we're paying for it by buying their outdated weapons with their ridiculous prices , not to mention they confiscated our nukes long ago and now we have nothing to reinforce our standpoint thus getting bullied by everyone so how history is good since it progressed from the beginning ?
History only told us you either die to stop the suffering right now or you live to see it continuing in the future .
So wait, you support the American side because they have a large landmass? Using that rule your own nation of Taiwan is insignificant in geopolitics, even though it is one of the main economic powerhouses in Asia.
Yes because you can do more on a landmass than on an island . Japanese used to reclaim the sea to expand .
As for economic powerhouses yes we used to be until political infighting started , now we're just a small island being manipulated by China and the USA , and our government can't do anything because they're just fighting each other , I'll give you a example showing how weak they are .
Filipinos have been harassing (even killing) our fishing boat and arrest them so they can ransom but our government didn't go aggressive instead they just paid the money and pretend it never happened (the same goes to dealing with china and japan) , now their crime is unmasked so they've decided to play stupid with us while the "U.S of A" is backing them by calming the situation and china is on our side (how ironic , but I can guess their intention) , what's even more worse is our government still does nothing like they did all these years (15 years at least I heard) , now you know how incompetent our government is .
And speaking about irony , the U.S demands others not to have nukes while they've got hundreds of them .
So it's not like I support any countries that easily I just simply want to ignore everything else about a country so I chose my opinion based on its land size , you gotta admit bigger lands have more space , and more space means more possibilities (that is , when you're done imagining it and want to create it) .
If I remember correctly, during the American War of Independence the British Parliament were debating whether or not it was worth the fight. From my point of view, a little developed colony filled with smugglers and slave owners is hardly 'worth keeping'.
correct me if I am wrong but wasn't the main reason Britain tried to win the war is because of the rich resources of the country? If you ask me rich resources is pretty important.
"correct me if I am wrong but wasn't the main reason Britain tried to win the war is because of the rich resources of the country? If you ask me rich resources is pretty important."
As I said, we hardly 'tried' to win the war, the resources that the American colonies provided could easily have been obtained from Canada of the Caribbean anyway.
The best country is whatever country I happen to be in at the time, so it shifts not just between the two countries listed here, but any country in the world I am in.
Some say that this is because I have an uncanny knack for being in the superior country; others claim that this fact is due to my intense awesomeness. I can't comment on this, it is for you to decide.
i've never been to Britain before but it seems like a nice place. I do live in America and I can say that there are a lot of dumbasse here, we vote for idiots, and our intelligence is going down dramatically.
The history, the contributions, and of course the fact that it has its own culture, language, traditions. It isn't a total melting pot, though unfortunately it seems to be becoming just that.
Free health care for all is one big advantage of Britain over the USA and I can ask for cider and get a decent alcoholic drink in Britain instead of Apple Juice
The last time Britain was invaded successively was in 1066 that was long before the USA was even created. I'm Canadian but I must say I support Britain.
And extreme gun violence, and racism, and prejudism, and terrible poverty in places. E.t.c. List goes on. I could list some stereotypes but people would complain " we're not all like that!"
I prefer Britain, because despite what you have all been brainwashed to think, it is a land far, far freer than the USA. With it's constant surveillance and constant paranoia about other countries and religions. It's not all bad, no place is. And I am sure it has good people. But in my opinion I would say Britain is better. And let's not have " well our country invented the..." type thing, because it really is very unclear in about 90- percent of things who really got there. You say Britain invented the camera, but the French in actual fact had a more basic way of taking photographs, the British just improved it. The Jet engine was originally German too. They also say that Britain invented the train. But it is a cross between the British, French and Germans who were all working on it and stealing ideas from each other about the steam powered engine. Same with the internal combustion engine. The list goes on.
Ah ha! I put opinion for a reason :L I know this but it is predominantly in the US. This is not about which country in the world is the worst, it's about the US and the UK. And the US has more gun violence and more racism than the UK. As for poverty, I don't know, but from what I have seen the US has more. I was going to comment on Guantanamo, but really the British have just been found doing the same thing. But honestly Obama is a real shit in my opinion! All this business with the Drones, Manning, Guantanamo, his so called 'Obama care' which is complete crap, why not a full NHS, and total and complete failure to do anything about the guns, which he said he would, but is doing fuck all about. These are some of the reasons I don't like the US, but if they are reasons that you do like the US then fine :L It's an opinion, I am in no position to be the soul decider of which two great nations is the better.
Yeah, Obama really is a piece of shit. He ran on a moral agenda and then ditched it once he got into office. Typical politician.
America was once considered the greatest country in the world, but the last few years have really gone south. Our politicians are truly ruining our country.
But not every country claims to be the flagship of equality, liberty and democracy. Even though other countries do experience racism, prejudice and gun violence, the few that do suffer these on a scale larger than the U.S tend to be 3rd world nations.
This is our governments fault, not ours. That is the problem with electing a new president every four years, occasionally we get a dumbass who makes our country look like shit (Obama).
By the way, could you give me an example of racism in our country that doesn't go back 40 years or so? We elected a black president. Some of our biggest celebrities are black. We're the fucking mixing pot of the world. Every race you could think of is in America.
A lot of the time, yes. And Britain is really far north for as warm as it stays because of the Gulf Stream that comes out of our Gulf of Mexico, crosses the Atlantic and warms up Europe. I say if they ever get out of control we should threaten to build a giant deflecting peninsula off of North Carolina and they can freeze their asses off. ;)
But the amount of rain we get means that we have no deserts, and the countryside is really green in summer. We don't get hurricanes like you do in America, so I prefer our weather.
We probably have more countryside than you since the UK is about the size of Texas. The West has deserts but the East doesn't. America has a little bit of everything when it comes to landscapes. What's wrong with that?
It's not mountains, it's a type of mountainous region.
And island states or not, it's still the same country under the same laws across the water. I quite like Europe's many small countries. American police sound a little intimidating also.
When I said coastal states, I didn't just mean island states. I meant the east coast and the west coast. Sure they're under the same laws across the country, so to speak. Certain states have a few different laws. Europe seems awesome, don't get me wrong, but we're talking about Britain in particular. Aren't your laws the same across Britain?
And what is the big difference between American police and British police?
Yes, but I could live in Scotland two years then get free university, or get married without parents consent if I so wished but that's pretty similar to your states. It's just... MEDC, huge, it's probably an irrational thing, it's all opinion anyway.
The difference? Guns, and maybe attitude also (specc.)?
Any country without a history of crazy warring monarchs is less interesting to read about to me, anyway.
Food - Tea is way better than McDonald's and it's also Vegan, so Britain.
Clothes - Seriously, both suck. There is no point in giving any of these countries points for fashion, because these two places are probably one of the WORST places to shop in. -1 for both.
America certainly has no weapons in a war about food, but all of Britain's weapons are defective, that is to say it's absolutely terrible. How bad must your food taste, that adding vinegar is a good thing?
And then again for the fashion. Britain is one of the fashion capitals of the world, they are way up their on posh designs. You ever heard of this Rimmel thing? "Get the London look", that's their slogan.
As for the music I guess I don't like British Rock bands, but I do know that everyone else does and everyone also HATES (with a passion) American singers, because they usually are shallow.
Movies, gotta agree with you.
Weather, every where is really going to hell so I guess it doesn't matter.
Music - I'd say America and Britain are pretty equal both have given great music to the world. 1 point each
Weather - I'd give that to America due to its size and geography and I like hot sunny weather so California or Arizona would give me what I want!! 1 point America
Language - I have to give that to Britain but that's probably because its the spelling and pronunciation I'm used to. 1 point Britain
Movies - A bit of a tricky one America churns out more movies than the UK not all of them good but when they are on form they are awesome but British movies when good are equally awesome. 1 point each
Food - both are equally good or bad depending on were or what your eating. 1 point each
Clothes - I like American and British clothes but Britain probably scrapes this one because the clothes are more versatile, I find British clothes work for both formal and casual whereas American clothes I like are more casual. America also loses out for introducing jeans that hang halfway down your arse even with a belt on, thanks for that. 1 point Britain
So for me using your criteria Britain just wins this
Well of course U.S.A. Because the US has way more land then great Britain dose. So we can have more options of use of our time. And we are free and united country. Beside we are united and we all fight as one we stand together as one. Boy I love the U.S.A.
Come on man the us I'm guessing this website is from the us please tell me if I'm wrong no one take this personal don't just understand we kinda have a better chance of winning this debate.
You should have a better chance due to just shear volume of people but that does not seem to be helping much at the moment (you've probably guessed I only posted this to even the sides up!!)
