someone can still live after being raped Very true but the effects rape can have on the person for the time afterwards can be devastating. I can't say from experience but I imagine rape is a very traumatic experience and can cause mental problems E.G. paranoia as well as physical damage dependig on hiw violent the rapist was. Murder can be done and over with quickly but being raped stays with you your whole life. Side: Murder
I will post on each side so as to balance the points, but this really shouldn't have been a two-choice debate. You should have left it 'open', since I believe the worst crime to be Willful Ignorance. Forcing us to choose between only two choices is a logical fallacy and is a very deceptive way to argue. Side: Murder
The debate was not left open so as to contrast these two specific crimes. the question isn't which crime is worse in the world, the question is which crime is worse of the two. Before you say it's not stated that these two are the only ones to be contrasted, it's implied, since these are the only two given choices. It's also implied in the key word which and not what. only a dipshit would say rape is worse. if you could ask any victim of murder if they could come back to life on one contion and that condition was a daily raping for the next 20 years...i bet theyd all agree. and dont give me that BS about living with yourself after the rape...rape is sex...we all like it. hell...for most women its there #1 fantasy. one time i raped my exgf...she was being a prude bitch for many weeks and finally i said fuck that bitch, if youre going to be in my apartment and my bed...im getting some pussy on the regular. so late one night while she slept, i jumped on her back and ripped down her panties...she tried to fight it for the first few minutes...but once i got going, she turned into a total whore...so much that i looked at her differently afterwards...and wouldnt you know, i ended up catching her cheating not long after it. rape doesnt belong in the top 20 possible crimes...if you think it does you are fucked in the head. Logically the opposite argument supporting which is worse for the victim can be simplified into this: If it is worse to rape then it is to murder that means people who are killed are better off than those who are raped. The stress of rape is prolonging, death relieves people of all stress, all suicide is self murder, all murder is death, therefore people are better off committing suicide instead of living on as a rape victim. Basically if your saying that rape is worse than murder, then your technically saying that people who were raped should commit suicide. When it comes to family issues the possibility of an unwanted pregnancy is bad, but having a 100% possibility of a whole family become mentally distressed over losing a loved one is even worse. As a world-wide view having a few less people in our already high population might be good, yet having more people being incarcerated longer for a more common crime can end up costing a lot more. Rape takes away a person's freedom and choice Murder takes away EVERY freedom and choice they will ever have. alive and shamed toconstantly remember that. If someone is ashamed of having been raped...seriously? Of course being raped is horrible and nobody would wish to remember that. But I would argue that being able to move beyond that is somewhat better than never getting the opportunity. Side: Murder

I'm on this side because of the reasoning behind the crimes. The reasoning for murder can be diverse, sometimes almost justifiable. On the other hand I can only think of one possible reason for rape, and that is a combination of uncontrolled lust with mental problems. Side: Rape

That would make sense if there wasn't the fact the there are a lot of adults who rape children, my hypothesis is that people do it when their fear and anxiety of the law and the opinion of society are weak, while they're contradicting emotions for both lust and domination are stronger causing a person's will to magnetize toward their sexual desires instead of their social desires. Is now in a corner rocking back in forth in the fetal position every night, because I am too afraid to go to sleep, because I am afraid that I will relive the nightmare. I can think of situations in which I can forgive murder. Murder is not always a selfish act. I understand the desire to murder, how sometimes it feels as if getting rid of that person would make things easier. Rape is something I can not, and will not forgive. There is perhaps one situation that I can readily think of that rape would be forgivable. If it is on the threat of your murder of you do not rape someone else, then I believe that rape is forgivable. I believe that is the situation that rape may be forgiven. Essentially, the only possible decent excuse for raping someone is in defense of your own life. Side: Rape
