Which is better, British Comedy or American Comedy?
Apparently there is a difference between the two. Anyway, this is a lighthearted debate and I hope no-one gets too passionate about it. Please provide samples of what you consider some of the best of British/American comedy. Hopefully we end up with a collection of funny clips.

American comedy gets a bit tiring, what with all the indistinguishable sitcoms that all have the same plot, with the exclusion of Big Bang Theory, which is brilliant. However, American stand up is awesome, you guys had George Carlin, and the modern version of Carlin, Louis CK. British sitcoms are better, which is why America keeps stealing them (the office, the inbetweeners). Also, British comedy movies are the bestest thing evarrr, Monty Python FTW! Side: British Comedy

I like both there are differences but that's just because of the difference's between the Countries and Cultures, what I dont like is when you get one country remaking anothers comedy it hardly ever seems to work (OK there are exceptions like the US Office seems to be a hit but for every one that works theres loads that fail) Side: American Comedy

Maybe it is a cultural difference, but I find The Big Bang Theory to be particularly unfunny, the jokes as with a lot of mainstream American comedy are obvious and I find I can tell them coming a mile off. Outside of the obvious jokes, the story lines gravitate towards who is having sex with who, it seems the formula is way too noticeable, it's dumbed down TV and not in the funny sense, more in the condescending sense. The comedy world is ruled by the Brits, while quality drama is definitely ruled by the Americans, some shows, such as the wire that I've watched have been the best I've ever seen.
