both can deliver in theory. and actually we even have a few successful examples of communism: exhibit A: The amish communities. exhibit B: The mennonite communities. clearly there is a pattern developing here... but this brings up the ole problem of church vs. state. i like their theory, just not a big fan of their theology. Side: Communism or Socialism

Capitalism is an economic system based on the freedom of private ownership of the means of production and their operation for profit. Characteristics central to capitalism include private property, capital accumulation, wage labor, voluntary exchange, a price system, and competitive markets. In a capitalist market economy, decision-making and investment are determined by every owner of wealth, property or production ability in financial and capital markets, whereas prices and the distribution of goods and services are mainly determined by competition in goods and services markets. In a perfect world that had good and intelligent people, I could be swayed that communism (or some form of socialism) is a valid argument, however considering the quality of life we currently encounter. I don't see much choice. It is Capitalism. Side: Capitalism
based on the freedom of private ownership of the means of production This is obviously self-contradictory. If the means of production are privately owned then people can't be free, can they? They are servants to the private owners of the means of production. Side: Communism or Socialism
If the means of production are privately owned then people can be as "free" as can possibly be achieved. How are they more "free" if the government owns the means of production...? which begs the question, who controls the govt.?? should they be slaves to a dictator or the majority perhaps...? true this freedom of private ownership comes at a price, mostly self responsibility, however in the current world we live in, i'm willing to pay that price. also there are NO servants under a truly free market system. ONLY voluntary exchanges. which is why i'm such a big fan :) now once you force people to though govt. coercion or otherwise, i agree we would then have a major problem... Side: Capitalism
