Which is better - loyalty to a cause or loyalty to a person ?
Throughout history, and indeed in many mythological stories, there have always been depictions of conflict as between whether a person should be loyal to a person or loyal to a cause. Ben Hur, Trojan War, Ramayana,.
To illustrate, if someone who is very close to you - say your father, son, wife or boss, is known to have done something which you consider wrong, would you hand him over ? Testify against him in a court of law ? or would you stand by him and defend him and fight for him ?
Would the course of history have gone one way or the other depending upon people being loyal to the person or being loyal to the cause ?

I find this to be a very difficult question to answer. For a person as passionate as I am towards certain causes, it seems that loyalty to a cause in a martyr-type fashion seems the most noble action one could take. Although my youth may also reflect this opinion. Alternately, we're all on this earth for a very short time, and remaining loyal to people may be the best we can hope for. Somebody help me make up my mind! Side: loyalty to a cause
