Is this a joke? Peace is the ultimate goal of humanity. What is the supposed purpose of war afterall? I don't want oil or land, I just want union and harmony.

Yes, let's start a war. Let's give the government something to do. Let's kill the poor and feed them to the wealthy. Let's rape and pillage for the sake of keeping ourselves occupied. Let's force the ideology of post-modern manifest destiny. Let's buy all we can sell. Let's jack up the Dow Jones. Let's commit to Gods 'will'. Let's build it sky high. Let's sell our souls for a dime. Let's be free after three simple payments. Let's bring it all down!

Let's, Lets!

Peace is obviously better. Unless its a war for peace, which in that case, war would be better.

if we he had peace there would be no war. but i assume this debate is on how we should respond to other nations over things. ideally peace is great, but a few thongs hinder peace from being a solution sometimes, such as morality, security, and justice. if we let Hitler kill all the Jews and own Europe in exchange for peace, that goes against all 3 things i mentioned. we let others die at the expense of us having peace for a little. thats wrong, and we would have no security if Hitler owned all of Europe. and an other example is Israel. if Israel gives land to Palestine, it sacrifices security. already Israel is attacked by terrorist in Palestine. giving up more land would be a death wish. all in all though, if life was controled by me, peace would be best.

I'm not extremely for this position, but without war, no good peace would exist. War is human nature's way of "cleaning up". In other words, it results in the destruction of certain evils and keeps down overpopulation. People also tend to let out the best and worst in themselves during war times. In addition, war helps to lower domestic violence, as certain people would be fighting for their lives instead of letting out their inner desire for the fight on innocents. It's natural. Why else would males like me (and some females, before I get some rowdy feminist all over me) like paintball so much? With all that, I bring up a quote spoken long ago: "A bad peace is even worse than war". -Someone I can't remember the name of.

Just one thing caught my eye, one thing in particular... "In other words, it results in the destruction of certain evils and keeps down overpopulation". What evils are we protecting against but that of destruction and murder?

Well, duh, of course we all want peace most of the time. My point was that war is necessary for good peace to happen. Considering governments and human nature, consider the history of the world without ANY wars. Take the crusades, for example. Everyone agrees bad came from it, with the Christians and Muslims hating each other. But if they never happened, in the name of peace, the crusaders wouldn't have returned home with as many Arabic ideas and sciences. These ideas helped Europe advance from the Dark Ages sooner, leading to the modern enlightenment ideas you all love and cherish so much. If they never went to war, it may only have been a couple of centuries ago when the Europeans were starting to form countries.
