Which is more important in a fiction book?

Characters and plot

Side Score: 7
VS.

Number of pages

Side Score: 0

I look for an interesting story to follow.

Side: Characters and plot

The number of pages does not logically affect any sort of content found with a fiction book. Characters and plot will indeed determine what the book will be deemed as.

When a book is very long, but isn't interesting, people will be put off. However, when a book has an amazing storyline and great, believable characters, people will want to read it more. They will constantly be wanting to read on to find out what happens, and to see if the characters can rise up to do what they must do (if they have to do something).

Side: Characters and plot

Screw the characters, I could read a story with shapes, so long as their is a conflict, I'll be alright.

My copy of the Great Gatsby is 115 pages long. If number of pages were important then this book should only be mediocre
