I do not agree with limited advertising as the most effective choice to curb this epidemic but I think the government does need to step in. Not, however, by limiting the dietary choices of individuals, but by making the FDA more effective and preventing companies from adding unnecessary and harmful additives to food and cutting corners at the expense of food integrity. There are additives in our food that are known carcinogens, and many others still that have an unexplored effect on health.

Also, an increase in education couldn't hurt. Many children and even adults have no idea just how bad their diets are, or what they can do to improve what they eat without sacrificing large amounts of time and money.

Side: More government control

Now, the government not only wants to suggest what to eat, but they want companies censoring marketing for unhealthy food to kids. What next?

"We have a roadmap for implementing our plan across our government and across the country," -Michelle Obama

Obviously, both her and it can exercise the right of free speech. I will not object to the exercise thereof. And according to the same right, I too shall exercise free speech.

“The adulthood stupidity epidemic in the U.S. is a politician’s dream come true.”-Lawnman

”And they (politicians) have a roadmap for implementing the exploitation of stupidity across the government and across the country.”-Lawnman

(I will not dignify bullshit by giving it merit by a counter argument. It is a war of bullshit; if you want to prevail you must use the same ammo as your opponent. )

I feel that it is sad that obesity is such a problem in our society, but government control is not the correct response. Some people can eat burger and fries every day and not gain a pound while to others having dessert or red meats is going wild. People should regulate their own weight or natural selection will take care of them (heartless you say, why should 2/3 of the population have to suffer for 1/3 of the population's inability to control themselves).

I know that only the children and the parents are the ones that buy the food, but there should be more regulation on what companies can advertise to kids. Some people say that it's too much government control, but when they are stuck paying some kids doctor bill, then they will be mad and ask "why do the taxpayers have to pay for this?" If we just cut the problem at the root, then there won't be many obese kids in the u.s.

Well if their mothers spent more time with them rather than having an affair with another man, being divorced and living with another man, being divorced and living with her ownself, having a full-time job (unless it is necessary), going out to get laid etc. etc. (typical American woman bs)

...and were better at taking care of their children, then maybe these epidemics would never have occured.

Bitches don't care about their kids as much as the sagginess of their tits.

It is not the responsibility of the government to regulate children's pants sizes. The government is only responsible for

1) courts (adjudicate disputes)

2) police (domestic defense against crime and fraud)

3) military (national defense, not offense)

that's it.
