Though some scoff at peer pressure's effects on a person, I'd say that this is actually a huge influence in our lives. Even those who claim to be invulnerable to peer pressure are affected; for example, they may feel that they do not fit in. Of course, peer pressure is not always negative. Peers can influence each other to make better choices. And in a society where "right" is determined by the majority of the people, friends can provide valuable feedback on your actions, something family might not always be sensitive to. In addition, oftentimes families are broken, unable to be of importance in many peoples' lives. It is then that friends step into the void. If the family works, then fine. Get friends. If it doesn't work, then still get friends. Side: Friends

to be honest, my friends have turned into family for me, and my family is my own blood in which i would not exist if they didn't. Sure family can drive a person insane. Sure, they can be the people in your life that you despise the most. But at the end of the day, it's your family and your family of friends that prepare you for the world, not the friends you loose contact with after a couple of months. i love my friends a lot and i know they care about me as much as i care about them. but i will always love my family more because i know i couldn't of have just dropped into the world out of thin air.
