Like so many arguments about who is the greatest sports figure in a particular sport, it is always the same answer. You can not compare the greatest from one era to the next, only if they competed in the same era. Take golf, Nicklaus or Woods, Jones or Hagen, Snead or Hogan and on and on. Take auto racing, horse racing, track, swimming, basketball or baseball...there is no clear winner.
