Who killed Jesus?
Having seen that travesty of a snuff film called The Passion Of The Christ, I wanted to see what you guys think.
Pretend that it matters.
Was Jesus killed by the Romans or by the Jews?

Well I can't choose neither unfortunately, so I'll just choose this. There is no historical evidence for the existence of Jesus. All of the writing about him was written 200 years after his alleged death and resurrection. Somehow this guy was running around performing miracles and turning into a zombie, yet none of the people who were recording history during that time and place wrote anything down about him. The Roman emperor was afraid to choose. He feared both the Jewish leaders and the common people. If he killed Jesus, the common people would revolt. If he let Jesus live, the Jewish leaders would be pissed. He then decided to leave it up to the people. The people, being Jews, went by the Jewish leaders' decision to crucify him. I mean, it's weird, first, to let it all be decided by either the "Jews" or the "Romans". It was both, technically. The Jews wanted him dead, and the Roman leader carried out the request. Side: The Jews
Well i think so far most of your ideas seem pretty determinded by the general steroetype of what people force upon our beliefs. Everyone says the Romans killed Jesus, but thats rubbish. The only reason why people say this is because the Roman era is over and they won't start arguing against us because they're dead. However if suddenly if everyone started saying its the jews fault, jews would almost definately start declaring everyone to be racists (with the irony that jews aren't a race their a religious group). So we merely avoid the question and keep them happy. Personally i think everyone knows who is responsible for Jesus's death. It is the jews (according to the bible) because they had the festival in which they release a prisoner and crucify a prisoner. Now the jewish high priests despised Jesus because they believed they were supposed to have a mesiah to rid them of the romans. They believed it would be a saviour who would fight, but insted it was a man who preached about love and peace. Jesus dismissed the corruption that went on in the jewish high priests which made them angry. So they decided in this festival that they would crucify Jesus and free Barabos a man who was a murder and rapist. The Jewish high priests decided that. Pilot who is often the centre of blame even questioned their decision by saying "what has this man done, he is free for sin" and declared that he is not responisble and washed his hands (to clense them from Jesus's killing). To say the romans killed him is almost ignorant from the truth, the Jewish high priests are the ones solely responsible for his death. They were the ones who decided the fate of his life. The romans merely did what those people wanted. I am no religious person but I am sick of people saying its the romans fault because its not we all know whos fault it were. Side: The Jews
