The only reason why democrats care about the welfare of people is because htey are bought out by unions and because it helps them get elected. Just take a look at the new FISA bill that the democratically led congress passed. So who do they care about? Big business and labor unions, that's who. Side: Republicans
I admire your enthusiasm and hope or American politics. If only it were true. These parties care only about where their money comes from. So they appeal and create tax laws and regulations that appease their donors. For republicans its oil and pharmaceutical companies. For Democrats its the labor unions (you know, the ones that will eventually help bankrupt GM, Ford ad Chrysler). Side: Republicans
I think that in reality both democrat citizens and republican citizens care about America, they just have different visions of America and different views on how to reach those ends. if i had to pick i would say that democrats care and as that i mean not only people in political jobs but anyone who calls themselves a democrat in America. America is founded with the belief of personal freedoms and rights, and democrats are more willing to give individuals freedoms and rights than republicans(except maybe gun rights, but is that as important as the right to equal vote and free speech?). republicans say they care more about America, that they are more patriotic but that is just because they seem to feel that the most patriotic thing to do for ones country is to be willing to risk ones life by killing other people and never criticizing America's history especially when that history is dark and unflattering. I feel democrats criticize America and its policies, not necessarily the American people, not because they hate it but because it pains them to see such great fixable flaws in a country, they love so much, continue to manifest unchecked. patriotism is not dieing for ones government and country but for upholding the beliefs the country was founded on and continues to run. patriotism is doing whats best for the citizens of the nation even if it is against the government, established political parties, or military. Side: Democrats
What are you talking about? Democrats take freedom away too. They are part of government and that's what government does. Hillary clinton was upset and wanted new rules to censor video game publishers. Or how about FISA which was a bipartisan bill? Don't forget it was the Democrats who helped filibuster the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Right now Democrats only seem to care about this country. But the truth is they only care about the democratic party. They only care about their legacy, like most politicians do. Obama seems hopeful. Now let's just see if he's for real or not. Side: Republicans
I know both parties have taken or tried to take away personal rights from the citizens. I should have made it more clear, but i was mainly talking about democrats who are not in political jobs, just normal people. I feel that really none of the current politicians care truly for America or its citizens before their own careers and social status. when you look at what democrats are supposed to stand for i think it would appear that they care more for the individual by supporting privacy, universal health care, the environment, and usually rights of free speech and voting. That being said that doesn't mean that the polititians will stand for what they say, and that is why i am disapointed with any politian. Obama seems hopeful, and i hope that he does stand for the beliefs of the democrats but more importantly for what is best for America domestically and internationally as well as for the world. Shit, both parties are just different sides of the same coin. I would say "neither," but I'm going with Democrats because they at least put some effort into social programs. Really though, they're both the Capitalist Imperialist party. No president gets elected, or even nominated, unless they've gotten the seal of approval-- fill in whatever CFR, Bilderberg, et al-- and they've agreed to carry out America's typical Modus Operandi: destroy rising military or political powers, and enslave the third world. Oh, and make some people rich while you're doing it. Side: Democrats
While I d agree that both re the flip side of the same coin, ask yourself who social programs help... That's right - government. After all it gives them a free pass to charge more in taxes and provide services to the 'people' that are riddled with innefficiences and cost over runs. Side: Republicans

Honestly, I wish I could say neither party does, because it's true. Both parties are paid for by special interests and corruption. Yes democrats and republicans are corrupt. They only care for themselves and how they'll get elected, not the country. Both democrats and republicans have shown plenty of times just how 'political' they are. People voted in democrats in 2004 and 2006. What have they done since? Not much. I put democrats and republicans in the same boat. Side: Republicans
Republicans because when you hear a Republican giving a speech, you don't hear him/her say what you want to hear, you hear them say what in reality you need to hear. They don't mince words to make their speeches all prettiful like the Democrats, the go straight to the point and take actions that are necessary to keep this country on top, rather than actions that we want to happen that will eventually make us more vulnerable to attack from enemy countries. "Republicans because when you hear a Republican giving a speech, you don't hear him/her say what you want to hear, you hear them say what in reality you need to hear." I hear that all the time: when they're pandering to religious fundamentalists (many are religious fundamentalists), to lobbying groups, to major corporations etc. It's not something unique to democrats. Sometimes what people need to hear is what they want to hear. For instance, the need for a politically strong-willed president stems from a perception of vulnerability or weakness. This in turn transfixes the want of individuals towards the ideal of a strong leader. "They don't mince words to make their speeches all prettiful like the Democrats, the go straight to the point and take actions that are necessary to keep this country on top, rather than actions that we want to happen that will eventually make us more vulnerable to attack from enemy countries." Instead of making unfounded generalizations, it's important to recognize that there are some republicans who do lie, who do mince words, who do pretty-up their speeches and who do pander to what people want to hear as opposed to what is reflective of reality. Just like there are democrats who do the same. We are talking about politicians here. Side: Democrats
"make us more vulnerable to attack from enemy countries" I think with the all the nuclear weapons the major powers have sitting around, nobody's going to be attacking anybody directly. The consequences are just too great. As weapons technology improves, it will become increasingly easy for any of us to wipe out all of us. The only way to resolve conflicts now is through negotiation and compromise. If humanity fails to reach this ideal and succumbs to the temptation of high tech violence the Earth will become a desolate wasteland. Side: Democrats
